I've been having the exact same problem. It doesn't even work on quicktime for me. From what I've heard, the videos work on PC's, so it must have something to do with macs.

My problem is that I downloaded two avi files with an avi.001.xtm extension. I'm not sure what I should be using to deal with them.
Thanks!

Hi kerupi,
Thanks for the link, but that method actually did not work. I wonder if it needs a completely different program?

My problem isn't so much I can't play the video I've downloaded, I can't even "download" the video at all. The files I'm trying to download are .mpg and .wmv video files.
When I click to download it's suppose to save it within my files, but instead it opens up in a player (Quicktime or Windows Media Player) all I can do is to view the video and unable to download it. Is this a codec issue? I have the K-Lite mega codec and I've VLC media player and DivX player.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.

I'm pretty sure that means those are different parts and you need to combine them.

I have been googling like crazy and can't find a solution or similar instances of the problem I'm having with VLC and some (H.264?) AVI files. I'm using VLC 1.1.2 on Windows 7 64-bit. Video looks fine but the audio is out of sync and sped up really fast. The audio is encoded in mp3 I think. The same AVI file plays fine in Windows Media Player and Gom Player. I tried a bunch of different settings in VLC and even reset preferences. Am I alone in experiencing this problem? Any solutions? This is happening on both my desktop and laptop with the same OS.
Thanks!
