When I tried with VLC Media Player, the video was choppy and kind of like a slideshow, but the audio was fine.
Any ideas on how I can play the files?
Thanks in advance!
Oh, also, I checked my files with GSpot and it says they are WMV3 AVI files...not sure what that means, but GSpot says my computer should be able to play them, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work.

I was just wondering. Is there a way to view the subtitle files like in notepad or something? I'm not sure where I got this, but somehow, I was able to view some subtitles as text. Also, I heard of my friend saying something about downloading the subtitles as .txt files... but that was in the hallway... at school.
So, can you?
You know when you right click on a file and there's an option saying "Open with..."? Choose notepad.
Or just open up notepad, drag the .srt file into the notepad

Seperate note for everybody else:
The fact that you have every single codec doesn't always solve problems. Try to keep only ONE copy of each codec. Multiple copies can interfere with each other and make things worse.
What I would suggest for you to do: UNINSTALL ALL YOUR EXISTING CODECS. Go download Gom player or VLC player and install either one. Both of these players come with all the necessary codecs and the codecs have all been configured so you don't have to worry about conflicts and such. Then try your videos in either player.

Another way, to play subtitles is to use a different media player altogether which supports subtitles. I prefer this method because I find VobSub a bit glitchy. The one I use is called BSPlayer. Download:
http://www.bsplayer.org/
After installing, run the AVI file in BSPlayer, and the subtitles should automatically load. Using BSplayer, you can do a couple of nifty things relating to the subtitles. To move them up or down, (which is useful in fullscreen mode) hold shift and press the up or down arrow keys. To correct the time, hold Shift and press the right and left arrow keys to move the subtitles times forward or backwards respectively in 200 ms increments.
HELP! I use BSPlayer...and it works perfectly fine with some episodes, but I notice that sometimes the subtitles won't load even though the file names are the same.
It happens when I open an episode and the file name shown on the BSplayer doesn't match the name I renamed the file with. Why does it do that?

does anybody know why when i click on a show which i had finished downloaded like twice last nite, a 'windows explorer has encountered a problem' message appears and closes down everything. i had this problem before but i deleted and downloaded the same episode like 4 times before it's fine. i'm not sure whether i've asked this before in a different thread. if i did, sorry. short-term memory..
That usually occurs when the first few frames of the video gets corrupted. Fix.. unfortunately, I dunno.

heres a single codec pack that plays basically plays just about anything
http://cccp-project.net/
just make sure you uninstall all other codec before installing this one
I like codec packs, darkmafia guy doesnt seem to though.
Okay, so here's my problem. I d/led all of the codes needed, but when I click on my file to play in BSplayer I have to play it in DivX player first. Then I could play it in BSPlayer. But when I do, the picture's lagging. So if anyone can help me, that'd be great. =)

Try FFdshow. If not, update both Xvid and Divx codecs. Play in Video Lan, or MEdia player classic. Your computer might be doing a "software render" instead of "hardware acceleration" you know how you can set the computer to be on software acceleration for Windows media player so you can hit printscreen? Well that uses the processor to do ALL the work. When you have hardware acceleration on, it sends the work to other places like your video card to do the work.
Basic answer is just use new codecs and hope it imporoves
I need help, the file i downloaded is a avi file, the problem is that when i play it on. The image is somehow splitting in two. Is it because of my comp prob or the file is corrupted, i'm sad i waited for this file to finish dwl for quite a long time. Help!! thanks in advance.
Splitting in two is very weird. Turning all blocky, colorful, blurry, or even funky blobbyness is common with corruption. But splitting in half either the source was really bad and the person who posted it was pure evil or you dont have the proper codecs to open that.
1. I downloaded GSpot
2. Found out i needed XVID
3. Downloaded that
4. Uninstalled DIVX player, reinstalled DIVX player.
5. open DivX player, open FlightPlan, it says i need to reinstall DIVX player.
6. Restarted computer. open DivX player, open FlightPlan, it says i need to reinstall DivX player.
done this two or three times.
what am i doing wrong?
Thanks.
Please download Media Player Classic, BSplayer, or VideoLan. Those work much better than the divxplayer.
Xvid is sort of based on Divx but those are completely different codecs. Uninstalling Divx was not necessary at all. Download Xvid and Divx codecs (if newer ones are avalible) then open them in the programs I listed. Even Windows Media player that comes windows might perform better.

I'm having the same issue. I play the file on Windows Media Player and it says error downloading codec and it only plays the sound. I downloaded GSPOT and it says I need the H264... codec so I downloaded and it still isn't working. Someone please help. I think the newer drama files are in this weird format. Thanks in advance.
