some of you may know about this trick already, but it was new to me.

A customer came into our shop today and asked if we could try cleaning his headlights. after trying 5 different brands of plastic polish we found something that worked. it was....WD-40. WD-40 works great, it takes the oxidation right off. they lights dont look as good as new, but they look much better than before (and better than any plastic polish or cleaner got them). so if you have oxidation on your headlights try WD-40 and then finish off with a nice plastic polish to take out any little scratches.

we sprayed it on a one of those blue shop towels (sorta like a paper towel) then wiped down the headlight. the oxidation comes out really easily.

A good plastic polish is Chrome Wax. Used it on my old car when the headlights yellowed up (cheap plastic)... worked well to make it look good again.

Turtle Chrome Wax, a white bottle with a red cap, if i remember carefully.

how long should you wait until you wipe it off? also, what plastic polish do you use or recommend?

do you have any pics? i'm curious to see the before & after.

Yeah, I used some Mother's Mag Chrome Polish on my yellow headlights. Cleared them right up.
