Do YOU think SM entertainment is an overrated company??

Personally, don't kill me but, I think the music industry focuses wayy too much on this company. Like if someone debuts from the company, fans go nuts and the media is all over them. If someone debuts from YG & JYP & etc...it's more of a calm/neutral response. I mean personally, YG has much better talent than SM, and so does JYP. Most of YG's artists have strong voices, not only that but they can dance. SM has good looking people, and i guess some talent, but I don't know any specific artist in the company that stands out as a singerr. Dongbangshingi, Super Junior, Boa, Jang Ri In, etc...all are good artists, but talent wise, I still think other artists are better. I mean definitely I like them, but I just think the korean music industry focuses way too much on these artists/company.

I don't know....maybe its just that korean people like POP music and thats what makes them interested yanno?
JYP/YG, etc.. is more hip hop & r&b so maybe they aren't as interested...
iono if thats the reason, but it just sucks imo how YG artists, etc...aren't as focused on...
i mean they don't lack talent/definitely not looks...
Big Bang, Se7en, etc...are all hottt and great, not to mention talented.
But if you think about it they aren't as popular as DBSG, etc..

i think they are overrated. but they still have some talent/looks/popularity. :]
-they actually founded many GREAT artists of Korea. HOT, DBSG, SES, SUJU, SMTOWN, SHINHWA, FLYTOTHESKY, ETC.

but personally, i seem to favor YG & JYP more. xD must be cause i dont like the kind of music they make (SM).
its kinda kiddish (suju's tictoc, dbsg's balloons;; but HOT's candy is ok) ^^ lmao xD

SM does look for the looks first. THEN the talent.

i voted that SM is OVERRATED but that doesnt necessarily mean that other companies; eg. YG & JYP has better talent/faces.
personally i dont like LSM, with all the controversy he has & circulates around his artistes but you would have to agree
SM is bigger and it MAKES the stars bigger and puts out $$$ to promote them... you do have to admit the SM stars do make it out there...

at the end of the day it really depends on the artiste/band with the talent themselves... being in Sm isnt going to change if they possess talent and potential, it just depends on if the company is going to use that potential and promote them, and if your going to be by their side and support them or not. but overall most importantly, its if YOU like them or not

I think, SM, YG, and JYP are ALL overrated. I love poibos/gm (SeeYa , SG Wannabe , Eru , etc.) , cj music (Brown Eyes etc.) , GOOD ent (Shinhwa) , DSP Ent. (Fin.k.l, SS501, and Maybee) , and Trifecta/Eyestar (Koyote, Uhm Jung Hwa, Typhoon, and Turtles). I think all those entertainment companies are underrated.

But props to the "top three" for making some big stars.

i actually dislike lee soo man for being such a genius when it comes to advertising and producing talents that sometimes he forgets that those under him are overworked and many are underpayed

ok, i voted that 'i dont know' one.. & im kinda regretting it now, just a teensy bit.
i voted that one because i agree that JYP & YG have really talented artists that arent 'hyped' over while artists from SM gain recognition & instant fame. Lim Jeong Hee is a great example.. she has the most beautiful & soulful voice ever & i think shes pretty popular, but not as popular as some artists from SM who's talents really dont match up to her..

however, my favourite artists also come from SM.. so umm, im in a bit of a dilemma. like, BoA & DBSK & Ri In are all REALLY TALENTED & are total stars!!
SM do put more money & effort into promoting their artists, but they also make sure that they artist is WORTHY before they go ahead & do whatever they do. so i know that this artists gonna be really good & TALENTED.

actually, i dont think SM is overrated.. just that they do more pop music than everyone else. maybe thats what makes their artists so popular. i think artists from all three comanies are all just as talented as each other, but its SMs planning & strategical whatevers that sets them apart. they pump out good music too... i love SM music!!
at the end of the day..... SM has just as many good 'solid' artists as any other company, but i think they might have better management or something.

I think SM is not overrated.. Well I don't know partly. Their artists are very well TRAINED. Theyre trained to become famous and the promotions and all. YG has promotions too but its really their singing talent and abilities that got them into the company and not just looks. I respect YG for that, and for not lipsyncing lol, I disagree with SM making their singers lipsyncing =.= YG singers dance too but they don't lipsync.

It's kinda half half for me.. yes they're overrated.. but I love their songs. BoA and DBSK are probably why they're so powerful today. SM really knows their audience/customers, even though they do a lot of lipsyncing and cover songs. I mean.. who else would have 4 versions of a cd within a short period of time? I think they're really smart at marketing.

Actually I hated their girly looks at first. It was their talent and charisma that let me look past their "girly" looks. HA now I really like the whole pretty boy thing... >_<

It has to do with marketing... DBSK... They're everywhere. Variety shows, specials.. singles after singles. ..they had so many albums in such a short while. (well so did big bang...wait Se7en had two last year).. maybe it's the genre? maybe koreans go for the more poppy songs.

I can't say that SM isn't overrated because then I'd be lying. I'm a HUGE fan of some SM talents *coughDBSKcough* so I can't just say that SM is a ripoff either (*is biased* --;;). SM has some good talents and it's done well in helping the stars succeed but some of those talents don't deserve all that over-exagerrated success while other stars from other ent. companies are better than them. And yeah, I guess it's because of looks because SM considers looks over anything first. The other talent/ent. companies actually have some AMAZING talent (YG love -- SE7EN~!) and I think some of the success and love could kind of shift over from some SM stars to those of other companies.

DBSK is just OK, Overrated in my eyes [but i still like them a little]
BOA is ALRIGHT, Her voice is alright, and she can DANCE better than most.
SUPER JUNIOR: NOT OVERRATED. All 13 of them really are worth their fame.

I just realized, you can't really say SM is ALL based on looks because look at ShinDong from Super Junior... does he have the best face? No.... but I heard he was a REALLY good dancer so its not only on looks i guess.

sm does not have the best songs. they prefer looks over talent. but no they aren't overrated. sure they may not be selective as yg or jyp when it comes to choosing trainees, but most sm trainees train for at least three years. the lucky ones like yoochun, ryeowook, and kyuhyun didn't. & i guess i can see why. ryeowook and kyuhyun are vocally talented <3 yeah most sm artists don't have voices that make your jaws drop like big mama, but when it comes down to the whole package they deliver. sm can get you places. they're there to promote the day lights out of you and make you a superstar. if you want popularity and fame fast, sm is the way to go. they are strategic masterminds when it comes to promotions and making money. so they make for different versions of a cd. you didn't have to go buy it now did you? they didn't put a gun to your head and say buy or else. lucky for them there are people out there who do it voluntarily and voila here comes the $$$ in the end, it all depends on what you're looking for in an artist and sm happens to be targeting the right market.

actually when i said that i meant all the fans that are girls....lol as in those girls that run around chasing their vans and stuff like they just like them for their looks not really their talent and no offense to their fans but they aint the best singers i mean they're pretty good but not the best
