When theres nothing good on television late at night, I watch infomercials. The other night when I came home from work I could not get to sleep. I was flipping through the channels and I came upon a informercial that was new to me. The product is called Aerogarden. Basically, its a dirtless garden that grows tomatoes, herbs, petunias, and chilies. Strawberries are going to be availible next month. All you have to do is put water into the planter when the light tells you to and add some nutrients. Sounds like one of the coolest ideas in a long time since lots of people don't have access to their own garden. However, the price is 150 dollars.

I so want one of these. I love gardens, and I love cooking. I live in an apartment and I dont have a garden, or space for one. Im super lazy and I hate grocery shopping. Usually, the produce I buy winds up spoiling and I never get to eat it. I was thinking of getting the lettuce set and eventually maybe one for strawberries.
Does anyone here have one of these gardens, or know someone who has one? Please try to talk me out of buying it. The product and shipping to Hawaii will probably be an arm and a leg. My guess-estimatation $180ish. If you know of any similar products, please let me know.

Pros:you can grow your own garden and have some fresh produce availible to you. The harvests last for a relatively long time.
Cons:The price, and you cant really mix the plants. (lettuce with peppers, etc.)

What is Aeroponics?

A: Aeroponics is a dirt-free growing method where plant roots are suspended in air within a 100% humid, highly-oxygenated growing chamber. Because the roots are bathed with ideal levels of nutrients, water and oxygen, plants grow significantly faster, are healthier, and have a higher nutrient content than plants grown in soil.

180 is just my guess/estimation since i know how much it would cost approx. for FEDEX 2 day air because of stuff i do at work ( i ship peoples clothes/shoe orders). usually, shipping is like 20 bucks or more ph34r.gif . its 150 for the garden alone and im sure they will charge tax. also, most of the sites will probably charge more since they have to ship across the ocean to hawaii . ahhh but a girl can dream. perhaps, one day i will have my little aerogarden smile.gif the thought of being able to have my own produce makes me happy. i know im a loser laugh.gif

My very first thought upon seeing this was, "Wow, this setup would be excellent for growing [censored]." Am I the only one who thinks this way?
