i have a quick question cause i'm kind of stuck. i dissolved 1g of phenantrene and recrystallized it. i weighed it to be 1.99g. is that possible.

I don't think it's possible to get more than what you started with. When you're recrystallizing, you're basically recovering something in a pure crystallized form so it should be less than what you started with. Did you tare the scale before weighing the crystals? I hate chem labs by the way. Good luck.

It could have picked up elements form the environment but you should dry it some more...

yah i agree make sure first that it's dry and it's not hygroscopic (meaning it does not absorb water from it's surroundings)... the final mass must be equal or less than the initial...

just make up your numbers, thats what i do.
