Nothing to be proud of, but my sister pointed out that the ticket has no price on it but a court date.

Any tips for when I go to court?

If you want to know, I got in a fight with my dad, went to drive to cool off and did 53 in a 35. Yes, I know I drive fast, when I'm mad.

u can pay for the ticket online.

or if you want to go pay it in person you just go to the courthouse and wait in line. then u give it to them and pay.

does it have the speed limit you were going on the ticket?

i was going 95 on freeway when i got pulled over. he pulled me over for speeding and lane changes. luckily he didnt write down how fast i was going,,and when i went to court they said my ticket wasnt filed, didnt have to pay but they told me to come back, when i went back 2nd time it wasnt filed,, hope i get away with it *crosses fingers*
i can only imagine,,,

where did you get the ticket? I live in mass and here the tickets have all the info, but a friend got pulled over in NY and he got like a sheet of paper and it didn't have any dollar amount, it turned out to be for 255 though which sucked, i suggest googling that state's ticketing procedures to get an idea of what you should do

If you pay for it, you don't have to go to court, do you? But seriously man, don't bother with a court case. Such a bloody waste of time, energy and money.

^ I have to go to court. If I don't, they'll send out a warrant for my arrest.

Now I'm just getting nervous, even with google, I cannot find ticketing procedures or the title 71 section 138 statute that I violated.

*EDIT
Ok, I found the DMV website but even with that, I still don't know my fine amount.

r u seirous? did u talk back to the cops or something?? r u SURE u got charged for speeding?
because a ticket without a fine usually are for careless driving, dui, or racing, and they are serious offences. you have to appear at the court.
you really gota call the ministry of transportation n see whats up
better yet find someone to fight for it

i don't think fighting a ticket in court is a waste of time, you'd be surprised what you can get with the "pathetic/scared good kid act" i've gotten out of 2 tickets all charges dropped with that. First one I got pulled over for speeding (the cop was a kool-aid) 40 in a 30 late at night, he towed my car because i was under 18 driving after hours, and wrote me a $135 ticket, 100 for speeding 35 for violating my JOL. Got out of that all charges dropped, My next ticket i got out of was a $300 dollar speeding ticket on the mass pike, 115 in 65... The cop was nice at the time and wrote it for me going $95, and it didnt cost me anyhting to go to court. So if you think you got a chance it doesn't hurt to try in my opinion

:edit:
i represented my self both times, and it was in MA, dunno how it works where you're at

Man, I just found a chance to fight back.

53 minus 35 is 18. However, Ordinance (Not statute, my mistake) 71.138C is a violation for going 21+ MPH over the limit in a marked zone.

In my state, if you're under 18, you need to go to court with a parent. But it was my first ticket so I got 20 hours of community service for it and got no points =D

i just realized u asked for advice in court...

dress well, show you care, i always wore a shirt and tie
don't come in with additude or cocky at all, they will give you the sentence just cuz your a jerk, its better to act nervous or kind of pathetic.
Its good to have points of argument, like its you're first offense but try not to be too technical
be honest when you need to, like how you got in a fight with your dad and such
always be respectful, the judge is ma'am, sir or your honor
You should try to remember what the cop looks like, he may not show up or have just have a representative show up in his place which would work in your favor-- and if its a representative, they only have what the report shows, so take advantage of the information they may or may not have, so you can (i know it sounds bad) lie if you need to, but be sure its believable (it works..)
And the judge as well as the cop are all people so play their personalities if you can, some judges are nice, and some are just jerks so use your best judgement,
and its always good to show up early, sounds obvious but its true, alot of people don't show or what not so you can go in earlier and you also don't want to miss your name being called

good luck

Wear a bike helmet.

In case the judge literally does throw the book at you.

Im pretty sure you wont have to go to court. Im sure your fine will just come in the mail and you can choose to go to court and contest it or not. I got a ticket it had a court date (Im assuming that court date means you have to have paid or contested the ticket before then)
