if you're a student you can go to your student store and get the discount. Got 10% off my iPod that way.

I'm pretty sure that with the new iPod and iPod nanos they don't give student discounts. They used to with older ones but not anymore :I Anyway I think the best place is to buy at the apple store because they know their stuff, usually have great customer service, and have tons of accessories available to choose from.

Yeah. The Current generation of Nanos and Video iPods.

You can try Newegg.com ... I believe it sells iPods too.

Don't get the engraving. If there is anything wrong with it, you can't return it because it's "personalized". Probably why they offer free engraving.

Yeah... it's like "Get a free engraving and personalize your iPod but you're screwing yourself because you can never return it since no one else will want your dirty defiled iPod"

Costco's ipods are 10 bucks cheaper than at other stores, and they're really nice about returns. My sister's ipod headphones were all funky and they just gave her a new one. =)

costco is 6 months warranty on electronics and lifetime warranty on everything else...
so costco warranty is pretty good ;D

i was able to get student discount on my 30 gig video.. but i guess that doesn't count as new? xD

It should come with a one year warranty as standard from Apple.

If you buy an engraved ipod you won't be able to return it just because you don't like it, but if it has problems they will fix of replace it.

I don't think it really matters where you get an ipod from, the cost differences aren't massive, and apple will always honour the warranty (sometimes even without the receipt)
