Depression Of Trying To Become A Singer

Sounds good, huh?
EXCEPT
My parents won't let me go, besides, they think that I can't make it. I also have to get VISA in Korea. They are really against my idea of trying to become a singer, and they basically crushed my dream by saying stuff like: it's too hard, your not good enough, and "you're not Korean" Then, they started saying that a Chinese can't become a Korean singer.
P.S. I'm japanese/Chinese... it seems even weirder that I'm not Korean, huh?
Right now, I'm almost about to give up. I'm 13, and usually SM accepts people who are young enough for training. What should I do? Should I give it up for someone more deserving?

AW, so no auditions in the US, that sucks cause i wanted to audition too. Well, I say, that if singing is your dream, GO FOR IT....I'd take the chance...If your parents say you can't make, atleast try and see if you did make it...Its your choice...goodluck!

*WHY* does everyone think that they *MUST* become a singer in korea? There are other ways of becoming a singer that are more accessible to someone your age and location that won't have your parents jumping up and down about it. Form a band! Perform live in your area! Go do karaoke at an asian restaurant!
Everyone that replied in here, that I've seen, except for binyboo, hasn't posted any of their clips in this forum. But you all want to make it big somewhere--my suggestion is you find one of the threads labelled SM/YG/JYP Audition/Entertainment etc and go discuss your big dreams in there, and post clips for the rest of us to comment on and criticise.

keep on fighting because to be personally introduced to them... and if you're good.. you stand a chance. you don' t know how lucky you are so you should keep on trying. parents don't easily strip their children of their happiness... espicially when it's something they're passionate about

I second that. The Performers Forum isn't what it used to be, not that I've been here long enough, but ever since the SM Global Auditions, the performer's thread has become...different. Most of the people here are talking about becoming singers in Korea, but come on people, the "Korean Wave" is going down at a fast rate...and chances you're going to get in are slim to none (since EVERYONE wants to make it). If I'm wrong, then please correct me. And please bring your questions pertaining to the Auditions and the Korean Entertainment to the specified threads like how intuitions stated above.

It`s probably a parenting thing; they`re concerned for you and they don`t want you to take the risk of trashing your life.
You can, there is a possibility, but there`s also a possibility you might not, as well.
SM isn`t a very 100% guaranteed company when it comes to training then debuting, and your parents are probably worried that you`re going to waste your years from training, and end up a big failure. They don`t want to take the chance in letting you go, just yet, because they want you to lead a 'normal' and successful life.
Not to sound harsh, but if you really did want this, you wouldn`t let what your parents say get to your head. So what if they think it`s too hard for you? So what? Instead of saying "why me, why are my parents doing this," why don`t you move on to step two and prove them wrong? Show them what you got? It`ll be for your benefit, and not your parents. You just need to show them you have the ability to work at the extent, and keep up with what satisfies them.
And for all those people who are wondering why everyone wants to be a singer in Korea, it`s possibly because they`re on a Korean entertainment forum..influencing them greatly, since most of the people on here favor and idolize some sort of Korean artist out there. ;x If you think about it, some artists that are huge around Asia, and possibly US, originate from Korea, maybe giving the idea that they want to be going there to get a better chance in promoting themselves if they do become a singer. :x Well, from what I think.

but anyway its true that if you're not korean you're gona have a hard time getting super famous in korea. i know jangrin and han kyung are pretty well off but they still arent like... kim tae hee...or song hye kyo famous (even though their actresses). i personally dont think han kyung would ever be as famous as se7enn and jangrin like some famous korean singer lol. but i might be wrong then too.
but what i suggest is that you try everything. you're freaing japanese too and i think thats awesome. why not try some like japanese stuff? like AVEX and stuff? there are four main asian places: hong kong, taiwan, japan, and korea. why dont you just audition for all of them or something and see how it goes?
and yeah i feel for you .my parents are totally against me being a singer. so im laying it off until college. you're only 13 and im 15. i plan on going to like.. an ivy league college so singer is definitely NOT put in there. anyway my point is.. the younger you become a singer is not always better. i love boa and everything but sometimes i feel sorry for how lonely she seems. you're in your teenage years and definitely should enjoy it =] just keep practicing and honestly you might find something you like more along that road..

I'm quite amazed at how many people want to become a singer in korea all of a sudden as well. i agree with Dark Intuitions+aiyashisuey..etc etc
It's like this is all sudden. Or is it because no one made the move to admit to anyone about it until they started making threads on it?
you should really think about the downsides of becoming a singer in korea...and how your life may be effected.
(giving REAL advice here...)
you might be offended that some of us are telling you to think otherwise from becoming a singer in korea, but as someone was telling me, who was in the entertainment business: making this one choice, if you make it in-will change your life. he repeated it quite alot, actually.
and dont be depressed!~
although, after the serious thinking, if it is truly your way, if you really thought about it, then i say go for it.

music a universal language. it does not matter where or what language you sing as long as you love to do it.
your parents may have good reasons to not want you to, but if you really want to become a singer, then that should not even hinder you. if you want to become a singer, you need to think of the possibilites, good and bad. you should know what will be in store for you. even if you do make a debut, there is no guarantee that you will be a big hit. and even if you do make a big hit, you will be pressured and pained. with every single obstacle and consequences in mind, it is when you push past those things to pursue your dream that you can take the first step in becoming a singer.
show your parents that your serious about this. perform on talent shows. go perform in open-mike. practice from day to night. once your parents see how dedicated, how passionate you are, then i am sure they will support you. if not, then you will have to make it yourself. however, you are young. you need to take the time to really think about this.

The fact that you're about to use a crappy webmic to record a demo shows enough that you haven't thought this through. The fact that you haven't even put up a clip shows things as well.
Just sayin'.
