what type of vids that i can transfer to my cell phone then?

I believe MPEG4 is divx and xvid compression (<Filename>.avi). And then the H.263 is a weirdo codec style thing. But, ya.. I'm no pro at video encoding.

well, the phone won't play any file unless it's compressed into MPEG4 format, which, as mentioned earlier, requires xvid or divx compression. You can compress any mpeg and mpeg2 video into mpeg4, just head over to www.videohelp.com

Initially I thought since MP3 is a music file, than all video files means MP4. The increase in the number means there's another dimension or something. HAHA.

How can you tell if a video is compressed by divx or xvid?

download gspot codec detector, gives you information on the video AND audio stream, and tells you whether or not you have appropreate codecs installed, and if not, which ones you should get.

MPEG4 has weird extensions... im pretty sure the PSP uses MP4 and its like .M4A or something O_O
It often does end in .mpg but most media players now dont care what the extension is and will try to open it anyways.

Divx and XVID are modified versions of MPEG4. People liked MPEG4 but they made it better and invented their own formats.

Its best to get a video that works on the device you want to play it on and like the guy above said open it in Gspot to get information on what codec they used, what format, what extension, and what resolution they used.

H.264 is Apple's new compression scheme for Quicktime.
It has the highest quality to compression ratio of any codec to date.

If thats the case then look for those Ipod video utilities. They should be popping up everywhere soon for the easy media conversions to make it work with the ipod video.

hmm... it's written in the book H .263, i had no idea what this represent or what does it means...now u mention it, so...

i'm trying to transfer files but my cell phone got stuck..hahaha... so i cant tell which vids extension works...so...
