Thank you for your comment^^. Wen i typed dat msg i didnt mean it offensively, im sorry if u interpreted dat way. Dunt misunderstnd, Im fond of ther music, (for miyavi, from the start) for some others, i like some and some not. You may not be interested with wt i think bt....w/ miyavi, alice nine, gazette, diru etc....they are visual artists. I dont think dey put on all dat makeup, funky costumes/hairstyles, for no reason. And i feel its jus a form of expression of rock music thru their appearance. Also, to show their uniqueness. Visual Rock is their culture and they did it good, I was attracted and I like their music.
I dont wanna start comparing, bt ayumi, as an example, ppl like her style and she's a trend-setter, so she's a singer and fashion icon. It's difficult to draw the line.
Im sure cosplay-addicts undoubtedly admire jrockers for a similar reason.
Just my opinion~XD peace
I agree with you except for two things. Dir en grey doesn't dress visual at all anymore -- no more than say My Chemical Romance does. Also, "culture" may have been the wrong choice of word. Even in Japan though VK is accepted it is still not very common. Believe it or not, there are many people in Japan who have no idea who Dir en grey are. It sounds surprising but try the samething if you live in America, ask someone if they know who Mudvayne is. They won the very 1st MTV2 music award and have sold millions of albums world wide yet whenever I ask someone about them they have either heard of them but never heard a song from them or they just have no idea who they are. The popular thing is still just that -- pop-culture. So you're right that VK is there way of expressing their music but it is far from being Japan's culture as it is still considered a sub-culture just as anime-lovers and cosplayers in America are still considered a sub-culture even though it is so popular.
