So...I don't know what's wrong with my browsers..I use both Mozilla Firefox v. 2.01(it's the latest one, I can't remember what version it is exactly) and Internet Explorer 7.0. At first I thought I had to restart my computer so I did and usually that would work but it didn't. After restarting it for 5 times I decided to uninstall both browsers and reinstall them. Still didn't work. I cleared all the cookies, cache, etc but it still doesn't work. When I use I.E. 7.0 the page will load up as an error and I check my internet connection through there and it says that everything's fine. What's wrong with my browsers? Help, anyone?!
edit: I've already tried typing in the dsl address on the bottom of the dsl modem and the page doesn't pop up.

I'm going to go ahead and assume you are using Windows XP/2000
Click on Start>Run>cmd (you have type in the cmd)
then a black window should appear.
Type in "ipconfig"
Look for the Gateway address, then type the gateway address into your web browser.

More than likely it's probably a gateway problem (aka your router's IP address). This is assuming you have a DSL modem that's connected to a router which in turn is connected to your computer. That's the typical setup most of us have.
Most likely your gateway is gonna be either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. You can check what your computer is currently using by going to the Control Panel > Network Connections. Right click Local Area Connections > Status > Support tab. Write down your IP address and your default gateway. Important!!! Assuming you have a router, your IP address should be the same as your gateway except for the last set of numbers! For example, if your gateway is 192.168.1.1 then your IP address SHOULD be 192.168.1.x. If your gateway is 192.168.0.1 then your IP address should also be 192.168.0.x. If your IP address is something completely different than you're gonna need to pick a random number from 1-255 and use that for the last set of numbers in your IP address.
Now right-click Local Area Connections again and hit Properties. Go down to where it says Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), make sure there's a check next to it, then hit Properties. Select Use the Following IP address and manually enter in your IP address. Submask is 255.255.255.0. Gateway is either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Make sure the first three sets of numbers for your gateway and your IP address are the same! Under your "Preferred DNS server" enter in the same gateway address you used above. Leave the Alternate DNS server blank. Hit OK then once you're back to the last screen hit OK again to completely exit. Now right-click on Local Area Connections and select "Repair". Now try browsing the internet.
If that doesn't work, go back to those settings and change your gateway address to the other one. For example, if you used 192.168.0.1 before then change it to 192.168.1.1 or vice versa. Make sure you also change your IP address again so that the first three numbers are the same again!!!! For example, if your gateway was 192.168.0.1 and your ip was 192.168.0.170 [and you've NOW change the gateway to 192.168.1.1] then change the IP to 192.168.1.170. Change your Preferred DNS server to the new gateway address as well. Hit ok then ok again and now do another Repair. Now try to surf the web again. Hopefully that fixes your problem. If it does, go back to the IP address screen again and set everything back to "automatic". Repair it one last time and hopefully your problem stays fixed.
If you don't have easy access to these instructions when you're in front of your computer, now may be a good time to cut and paste these instructions and print them out.
