If I wanted to play online, I'd get the 360, if I wanted blu-ray, I'd get a PS3, if I wanted multiplayer fun, I'd get a Wii.

sell it and buy a wii and 360
Sad to say, this guys almost got a point.
Anyway, in my personal opinion, Wii reigns supreme. But it really depends on the types of games you like to play. Though in any case, I think that if you haven't already jumped at the chance to get a PS3, then you sure as hell can wait longer 'til a price drop or something. Again, just my opinion.

But I do think since the PS3 is worth more $$, ask for the PS3, return it....take the cash and buy the WII with it. ^-^

I'd rather get a Sony because I'd rather get the ability to play blu-ray and games.
Considering I don't even play that much games and the PS3 probably will have the games I like...MGS, Final Fantasy, Madden (for when all my homies come over)...that's all I need anyway. Blu-ray would be good for me because I have an LCD HDTV.
If you want the games on Xbox 360 or Wii then buy them.

one of the major reason to buy the PS3 and Wii are backward capability...360 is very limited in this area...PS3/360 are both very high end in their ability to display gorgeous graphics and would likely have a host of great games, the PS3's edge is the fact it has a Blu-Ray drive in it, while if you want the HD-DVD drive for the 360 youll have to buy a $200 addon (which will bring both system price to $600)...but the PS3 has a free online service (free demos, game/movie trailers, and youll be able to buy games made for it as well) while on the 360 online service youll have to pay a monthly fee, they have the same stuff as the PS3, just more and a whole lot better setup...as for the Wii, its got its controllers, gamecube 1.5 graphics, niche games and fun multiplayer...
i say its a toss between PS3 and 360, alot of third party games are appearing on both systems (Assassin's Creed, Oblivion, Saint's Row, GT4, Virtua Fighter 5), while some games are still exclusive to that system, (PS3: MSG4, FFXIII, DMC4, 360: Dead Rising, Halo 3, Gears of War)

I haven't really been into gaming these days, but this console is catching my attention. I may wait, however. The future games for the Wii are what really interest me (Super Smash Bros., Mario Galaxy, Harvest Moon, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc...).

sell it and buy a wii and 360
wut he said.........get the 60 gb ps3 and then sell it for retail value or trade it in
but if I had to pick, I'd probably choose either the 360 or the Wii. If you're more into graphics and action games, I'd go with the 360. If you're more into multiplayer fun games, the Wii is a good choice as well.

we know that...but seriously a retail ps3 = retail 360+ retail wii price wise
so i say tell ur "friend" to buy the ps3 for u and get the wii and 360
im sure ull be happier with both than the ps3 itself

Now, as I already have the Wii, I am now limited to choosing either the PS3 and the 360...and I would choose the 360. Microsoft was really smart in their strategies when the console war finally started. Before the PS3 and the Wii came out, I never so much as looked at the 360, because none of the games it had really interested me...until they started pulling out all the big guns with Gears of War, Lost Planet, Unreal Tournament 3, Guitar Hero 2, Halo 3...all as soon as the console wars started. Smart, huh?
As for handhelds...I have only been using the PSP to update the PSP

get the ps3!
you should also consider what type of games you like to play...
edit-- if you're into rpg, shooting games etc.. the wii isnt really for u
so far theres only, what i think are, kiddy games out.
sure its fun just to play but if its not your thing why even bother

And I'm not just talking about price reductions (which actually are probably gonna start way later in life anyway).
The main reason to get it later is because of the cooler games coming out for it, like Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy 13 and Versus 13, Resident Evil 5, basically any major title that already stood out on the PS2 above all the rest. Those games that I mentioned are gonna boast graphics that would blow Resistance clear out of the water, especially final fantasy, because SE utilized a special gaming engine (called white engine or something) that makes it look really crazy. Not only that, but the later final fantasy titles will utilize the Unreal Engine, which was used to make the awesome Gears of War game look stunning.
Of course, that's only if you even LIKE those titles...(Not that you shouldn't have any reason not to like them anyway).
But until the awesome games come out...Wii first, 360 second. (if you don't already have them)
