So we all know that aloe vera is good for the skin. However, some people suggest squeezing the gel directly out of the aloe vera plant and putting it on your face while others suggest using store-bought ale vera gel. My question is: is the fresh aloe vera gel poisonous/bad for the skin or is it better to use that compared to the store bought one.

its not bad to use it straight from the plant at all
the gel/lotion stuff just has a few more things added to enhance it, I guess

its just that its easier to get new gel/lotion
whereas if you don't have a big aloe vera plant, you might run out fast

my mom uses the aloe vera sap from the plant on cuts
so its safe, not poisonous
just remember, when cutting the plant, cut at an angle

...???
seeing as how u can eat and drink aloe i can definitely 100% tell you that aloe vera is NOT poisonous.

it is better to cut it up from a plant and put it directly on your face since its more fresh and no additives.
store bought is the same thing except they might just add preservatives.

also we have an aloe vera plant at home and my mom uses it for her skin so i know firsthand its not poisonous...

but another thing is that i dont think it makes that great of a moisturizer for the face, i dont think its moisturizing enough.

yeah the aloe plant is very good for you.
but like it could hurt you sometimes if you dotn cut it right.
there could be likesharp edges, y`know?
so yeah. the lotions are goood too.
lotions are better to put like on your body for moisturizing.
but i think the aloe plant itself just heals wounds/cuts faster and better than medicine or such.

alright i learned this from my experience and also through some research that i've done. So, when i first used it, i peeled off the skin and slit it and the gel comes out. i put it on my face and it itched like crazy. I did some research and found out why it itched like crazy. Underneath the skin, there's this yellowish greenish grime that you are suppose to wash off before extracting the gel. This grime was the cause of my skin irritation. To ensure the accuracy of the research that i've done, i washed the fresh piece of aloe after i skinned it, and my skin irritation was indeed gone. Maybe some of you guys already knew that, but i certainly didn't and it really did help the itching! =)

I use to use Aloe Vera right out of the plant when I burn myself on a stove or something. Helped a lot...

it has healing properties.
like it promotes and helps the healing process of your skin
so normally when u get sunburned you put on some aloe vera to soothe it and also help it heal.

theres a variety of other ways u can use it.
theres aloe juices and such with little cubes of aloe jelly in it.
its supposed to be good for moisturizing your skin as well.

uh..why would it be poisonous? Its food. You can use it to clear up your skin and get rid of your scars, takes a while though. Anywhoo applying from the plant to the face is better of course than the bottle, but the bottled stuff is easier so thats the trade off.
