I've been seeing a lot of ppl who are transferring from college and their grad. year changes?
lets say a student would originally graduate in the year '09 from BU and is going to transfer to BC and now their graduation year would be '10? is this because they are going to take a semester off? please explain... very confused.

No, the year doesn't change as long as you stay "on-track" and transfer after 2 years. Finish your transfer requirements in 2 years, transfer in as a junior, then graduate after a total of 4 years.

in my case it did change... i was suppose to graduate in `08 but when i transferred... my college's curriculum have major classes during freshman and sophomore year that i didnt take at my comm. college, and those classes are pre-reqs for my junior year classes... so now i'm in class `09...

some change, because the college they transfer to dont take all the credits that they had from the previous college

it depends if the college you are applying to will accept all of your completed credits. if they won't, then you have to make up for it when you transfer. my friend transfered after finishing 2 years at community college and the uni she transfered to only accept a year and a half's worth of credits. so, instead of being a junior starting out, so started out mid year as a sophmore. sorry if i confused you more...just check with whichever uni you want to transfer and makes sure they will accept all of your credits
good luck

Just wondering, for those of you who didn't have all of your credits transfer, before choosing your classes, did you make sure all of your credits were transferrable?
When I started at a community college, I made sure that all of the classes I took would transfer to a university (UC specifically) as well as CSUs.
The only credits I won't have transferring to my art schools are all the extra science classes I took when I was still a pre-med major.

well im a freshmen right now, and my first semester, they chose my classes for me
im in those programs where if you have lower grades, you get more help or whatever stuff like that, which i like to call the "dumb" program, and they put me in all these classes that will never transfer, as for second semester, i chose it myself, but since freshmens get last pick, i just chose the leftover general requirement classes, hopefully they'll transfer over to the new school

When I transfered from one CC to another it was a nightmare.. so bad.. that I just gave up and went straight into looking for a college to accept me. Right now I am working with UAA (University of Alaska Anchorage), and seeing what transfers and what does not. I really don't care at this point, but I have been pushed back by a year and half, because a few of my classes did not transfer. But then again, I was not planing my CC course work to transfer to UAA, but to UofL.
@Velocitii, don't worry, I had a few lower classes myself in English. I had to take two semester of below 100 English, it was not that bad.. at least I got better in it
. Even though they do not transfer, they do show that you a dedicated student. Well thats what my adviser told me.
