I told myself this quarter I was gonna try and study for at LEAST 3 hours a day.

Hasn't happened.

My school has some sort of formula that calculates how many hours I should study based on the amount of time I spend in a lecture/class. According to this, I should be studying 5-6 hours a day.

i'm usually really slack but towards the end of last sem, i was studying around 4 hours a day because i had 5 subjects and i failed one, so that was a kick up the butt.
i need to keep that up next sem because i have 6 subjects X/ man, i hope it lasts..

Between classes I go to the library and study.

Which would probably add up to 6 or 7 hours a week, maybe.

first week of semester...i haven't studied at all...
second week (which is this week) about 6 hours a day...and so stressful
but it's 6 hours of reading...not really studying...

I had an exam yesterday, and I'm going to have another exam tomorrow. I've spent probably over 20 hours studying this week.
I spent 6+ hours studying yesterday and another 6+ the day before that.
Yes, I'm a nerd.

Anyway, I don't normally study until a few days before the test.

exactly...unless I'm doing homework, which I have a lot of this semester, probably an hour-hour half every day
If I'm studying for a test, it'll probably be anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on the class

haha my school suggests students should study 2 hours per unit or something like that.

I only do HW.

I don't think you have to "study" per se if you type your written notes after class, do your readings, make notes consistently throughout the semester...
By the time exams roll around all I have to do is review my "stuff."

when exam days (and recitations... etc..), i study 3 hours max per subj. .___. if i go overboard, i die. lol. but my minimum is around 30 minutes. well, it's not basically studying but yeah, i just do that if i know exactly what i am studying. .___.

but when doing homework, my max is 2 hours.

When I have a really important postlab/report/paper due, I can spend 7 hours straight doing or finishing it. Straight studying for long tests and midterms I can't take that long, about 3-4 hours with breaks three, two days or the night before the thing tops for me.

But! If I'm in a really REALLY studious mood, I can spend 1-2 hours a day studying.

it's so hard trying to study in college. it's like "ok. today i will study' but then something comes up and totally ruins your set schedule for studying. but now that first semester's grades came out, i better start studying or else i would never graduate on time with the grades i'm getting in my major's requirement classes. it's so sad, i don't go out anymore on wkdays and sometimes wkends. so on avg. i SHOULD BE studying about 3-4 hrs. each night, but things never go as plan.
