I had to go to my GC's office to pick up a transcript today, and she was telling me that notification of NMFs were mailed out to school principals today! Students' notifications at home are mailed out the 7th! Since I live in IL (close to Evanston), I'm assuming the information should be there one Monday!

But since, 15k/16k make it..I'm pretty sure most of us who have not heard of being "dropped from the running" are Finalists. =] They have been notifying those who aren't being advanced to finalist standing all throughout January. My friend (NMSF) at school has already received that letter. Thus early congrats to everyone!! ^.^

I had almost forgot about this myself until GC brought it up, so figured for all of us STILL eagerly waiting college decisions...this would be something cheerful? biggrin.gif

Yeah, I got my rejection letter a month or so ago saying flat out that my grades weren't good enough. I had a 3.6 GPA, whoop-de-do. rolleyes.gif
Hey, look! Finally a different signature after all these years!

I'm pretty sure most all of the rejection letters were sent out in January. Feb 3rd NMFs were mailed to your schools and feb 7th they'll be mailed home to us!! =]

^ was that weighted or unweighted?

I'm pretty sure since I'm half African-American, I was withdrawn from the National Merit and put in National Achievement, which is basically the same as National Merit except for students with African-American descent?

I got my finalist letter a week ago and I'm waiting for possible scholarship money at the end of the month!

Congrats to all you National Merit people!

My friend was made a National Achievement Finalist and National Merit Finalist. They won't withdraw you from one for the other. So I'm sure you'll probably get both unless you've already received the letter of withdrawl from National Merit in January. =D

It's too late for you, but for sophomores who bombed the writing section, take writing classes. They are a HUGE HELP.

I took the PSATs my sophmore year and I got a 550. sleep.gif
Then I took writing classes and magically my score raised to an 800.

Unweighted. It's actually because I had high grades as a freshman and sophomore but then awful grades junior year. *shrug* Well, I got straight A's first semester senior year now, so **** them all.

Me too.

I had straight A's all the way up to Junior year. Some family crap. Which really screwed up my grades. sleep.gif.

Now it's kind of two late to prove that I can do better because UC schools don't even look at senior year grades which makes me sad, because my stupid Junior grades f'ed me over.

Ah. I'm nervous.

No I got lazy so I only applied to UCs. haha.

Wait..so what's the point of getting Finalist for those who want to attend schools that don't sponsor this program? Because I just realized the UC schools don't provide aid for finalists.
