I'm a rising junior majoring in Chinese and minoring in international studies. For educational and financial reasons (studying abroad is cheaper than staying on campus T_T) I'm planning to spend my fall semester in Beijing with ACC, a program hosted at the Capital University of Economics. I just heard back from CUHK yesterday and will most likely spend my spring semester abroad in Hong Kong. Has anyone here studied abroad in either of these institutions or cities? I've only had one very brief study abroad experience, spending a few weeks in the international dorm @ Yonsei although I wasn't affiliated with any of the programs at the university.

Most importantly, how does one pack for a semester (or two) abroad?!

* National University of Singapore
* City University of Hong Kong
* Yonsei University, Seoul
* Kyung Hee University, Seoul

These are the sister universities (?) with my uni... They lessons are in English so we don't have to worry about language barrier in the beginning.. I don't know the quality of these universities..has anyone been there?

I am most interested in a Chinese university...especially where they speak mandarin, and hopefully somewhere more "citylike", I mean...not in the deep countryside tongue.gif Has anyone any suggestions?

Thank you^^ Sorry if the English is wrong..

i can only speak for the national university of singapore, which is pretty prestigious, and is frequently in the top 30 ranking of universities around the world as well as the top university in Singapore. so the quality is 'there'.

students do speak mandarin, but lectures are in English...and Singapore is just one little bustling city.

I'm in Korea right now and will begin my study abroad program at Yonsei University when the semester begins in September. I'll be a third year Advertising major / Korean Language minor.
As far as financial aid / tuition goes, I'm doing an exchange program so the tuition is covered by my school (University of Georgia). I chose not to live in a dorm because I was afraid I'd hang out with international students too much (knowing me, it's what I would probably end up doing). I live in a one-room apt not to far from school.
Is anyone else going to be studying at Yonsei this upcoming semester? If so holla at me!!

Singapore is pretty cool. There's a mixture of many cultures in one place. I loved it when I went there seven years ago.

NUS is really famous. Singapore is also a nice place to live, very clean..
I say DEFINITELY go for that one. Runner up would be Yonsei.

Actually according to the university it is easier to apply to NUS than the Korean unis... I have no idea why wacko.gif

I want to, but my dad wants me to finish here first then study again in Korea if I want to. Idk. 0___o

I'm planning to go for Yonsei or Inha...or any good university within Seoul that offers art/music.
I'll try to find a nice scholarship and hopefully, with much pushing, my parents will let me.

Gah, still confused. -__-;;

Criticism does not equal bashing.

Hey everyone! I just created an account today after relentless searching, and I'm hoping to find some answers.

I will be attending Yonsei University's KLI program in October, I've already been accepted (woo!), my uncle in Korea is way too excited, but I've hit a road block. Does anyone know of any lenders for me to help pay for this? Yonsei no longer participates in the FFEL/Stafford/GGL program, so I read that U.S. students have to get a loan somewhere, somehow (and the site of course does not tell you where to go). Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Is it simply a study abroad program or a student exchange program? I'm actually an exchange student @ Yonsei right now, and I'll be starting once the semester starts in a couple of weeks. If it's an exchange then tuition should be covered, but if it's a study abroad program and you need loans you should try FAFSA. I know that student loans can be used for pretty much anything. They have pretty low interest rates and you don't have to pay until you graduate.
Regardless, you should talk to a study abroad or financial adviser at your school to see what your best option is.
Hope this helped!

I'm trying to consider my options..is there a way I can study abroad and still get college credit if I don't study abroad through my state school..I don't know why I can't...I have a 3.2 GPA...gonna be a sophmore.....I wanna go to Japan..but the thing is..through UMCP you have to have taken Japanese202..and I haven't even placed yet..I may end up in 102...whatever......I'm sad.

I've looked at most of the study abroad / exchange programs out there, but I can't seem to find one that is in Vienna, Austria.

Do any of you know if there's a study abroad program in Vienna?

^ Where do you want to apply? You should do some research before posting here, because if you go to the universities' websites the dates are all there.

For Spring 2008, SNU's last date was the 26th of July, but then they had this second round of applying, so you might still have time to apply there...
