I applied to HKU too! Are you applying for fall, spring, or year? I applied for year :]
I'm not sure about like.. hard/physical/biological science classes, but ALL classes at HKU are harder than UCs in general. Which is why they will raise our HKU grades by half a grade x_X I'm quite scared. but yeah, the returnees I emailed from my school were all social science majors

I'm not on financial aid or anything since my family is somewhat well off (middle class always gets screwed). I suppose I could gather some money from random scholarships, but do you think $14,000 is worth it for 4 months in England? I'm going there more for the 'experience' (aka fun) than the education, btw.

if yes, where did you, how was your experience?
i'm thinking about going to europe this fall, but i'm still indecisive about the country i'd like to go to.
I am fully aware that costs and courses will be my biggest factor, but i'd still like to know how everyone
else's experience was.
well...I'm goin to Ludwig-Maximillian-University in munich, germany... studyin in europe is really fun... because of the different cutures.. n also the people....
in holidays... we always can travel to other europe countries...
about the cost... i always think that studyin in germany is the cheapest one,.. until last year.. i didn't have to pay any tuition fee... but startin from last year.. i have to pay like 600 euros per semester.. but i think it's still affordable... we still can do part time jobs when we have free times... n it can cover the tuition fee.... but the fee in munich is not the same like in another city... for example... the fee in frankfurt is a bit more expensive.... n the students in berlin still don't need to pay any fee... so it depends on in which city u are studyin...
about the livin cost.. it's also not really expensive... the average is between 300-700 euros per month.. depends on where u live n ur lifestyle
anytime u have any question.. feel free to contact me

Haha you dont really need to turn in a application really if your an american citizen. If ur US citizen, you get a guarenteed admission and you fill in a little form.. i guess you can call it a application.
Yonsei's the second best college/university in Korea. I study there most summers in their summer program, the lectures in korean, you need to know how to write, read, and speak it or ur gonna have a hard time. But they help u alot if ur foreign transfer student. (IDK I might have a different perspective cause im korean and havent seen much english lectures in Yonsei, i mean its the second best school in Korea.) (I basically lived in the campus library while taking the Yonsei summer coarses, if that happened in summer... i cant imagine how a school year will be like)
I would study in USA first and move on from there, instead of going to korea off the bat cause your in love with Korea or worst case senerio: because you want to meet korean stars and etc.
Anyways yea, i lived in korea for 12 years and wanted to go to college there, but my parents perfers US colleges more then Koreas. I might transfer into KU, Koryo Uni, or Boston University in my junior or senior or grad school lol im uncertain of my future as of now
UCLAs got one of the strongest science programs in the United States.

Ill counter your statement, UCs have a stronger science program. It only depends on which UC you attend.
UCLA: is ranked in the top ten schools for sciences in the United States
UC Berkleys: Is known for their business school of Haas and literature/english
UC MERCED/DAVIS: It basically favorable inthe agricultural sector
UCSB: Nuclear Engineering
UCI: They are climbing the ranks in sciences, one of the top science schools as well
UCSD: sIMIlar to UCI
Dont say UCs are easy or not, cause its very hard to enter now a days. Especially UCLA, uc bERKLEY. UCs are considered some of the most elite universities within the United States. There are good schools in Hong Kong as well, but typically US schools are far superior at this age and time.

Don't get so defensive over nothing. You should probably do your research on the University of Hong Kong, as well as other universities outside of the U.S., before attacking the information I received from the UC Education Abroad Program. HKU is one of the top universities in the world (#18 to be exact, one spot ahead of Stanford), with UC Berkeley not far behind (#22). And I'm not even dissing the UC system, I ATTEND a UC. Plus, I already said that I didn't know much about the hard sciences, I was speaking in general terms.

Umm i wasnt getting defensive when countering you statement? Countering a statement, doesnt generally mean the persons getting offensive. Also like i said before.. i said "US schools are superior this age and time," as in most of the colleges in the states more recognized by the general public/ society. Adding on i said, "theres alot of good schools in Hong Kong," I wasnt targeting University o Hong Kong..
No offence or anything, but the message you sent me is just a reflection of you contradicting yourself. As you mentioned before, "Dont get so defensive over nothing." .. No one really can compare whats the best between US schools and International Schools. All schools possesses their own uniqueness, it all depends on what the schools more famous for.. such as: law, sciences, business, music, art, and so on. Which rankings were you looking at? A specific rank for a specific major or just a general statistic.
Also read my posting more carefully before you type your responce plz. I didnt compared University of Hong Kong to US Universities. I was speaking in terms of the UC systems. Thats why i named major points of each UCs and then concluded with a opinionated responce . What UC do you go to? Davis, Merced,SD? I researched in depth about the University of Hong Kong, seems like a good school. If you ever transfer to University of Hong Kong i wish you luck, they got some high ratings/ high expectations.

I can't think of many cons of studying abroad besides:
- It might cost more to study abroad than to stay at your home university
- You might fall behind if the classes you take abroad don't fulfill major/breadth requirements (but if you major in a foreign language, and go to the country of that language, you should be fine)
It's never too late to start learning a language. I know MANY people who pursued a new language they were interested in after entering college, and ended up minoring or majoring in it. You could also consider double-majoring in foreign language and early childhood

I really want to study abroad in Australia for some odd reason I don't know why.
I think it's because Aussie is in the southern hemisphere and their summer is our winter.
(I'm residing in the united states.)
And I like the idea of all the natural.....landscapes to see.
But I was wondering how is the schooling over there different than the states?

You should ask in the Australia forum in the "soompi network" section (here). orrrr, look up some good universities in Australia and browse their website. Look at their course finder if they have one. If they do, they'll probably have a summary of the class and its general grading policies
I don't know if you go to a UC, but my UC study abroad website has a course finder that you can try out
