I REALLY REALLY wanted to go to NTU but it doesn't offer enough English-taught classes :[
oh yeah, i know what you mean. I'm not fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese and a friend of a friend who went to NTU told me not to go unless I know Mandarin 'cuz 95% of their good/fun courses are in Mandarin. Boourns!
I'm actually a freshman and my university won't allow students to go on exchange unless you have 30 credits under your belt. I would have accumulated 30 by the time I finish fall semester (2008)
so I'm going to jump at the chance and go for one semester during spring '09.
but yeahhh.. HKU and NTU are prestigious universities.. so I don't mind going to either!

I've known people who have studied in Europe, but not in Warsaw - the only one that I know of are the British schools. My boss says that LSE and Cambridge are great - they make all the programs elsewhere seem really easy, if only because they need to squeeze the same amt of material in a shorter period of time. Good luck!

I've been accepted to study at ICU (International Christian University) in Japan, and was wondering if there were any others here studying abroad in Japan
All I know so far is:
Saitama Universty
You could always look into International Christian University, but they're a bit hard to get into

I wanna take a year off right after high school to do some studying abroad (my first choices are Japan and Korea, but I'm also considering European countries like France or Italy), but I don't think my school offers anything like that so where do I get started? How do I get forms or find programs that provide this kind of opportunity? Any kind of help would be really awesome (:

you guys are so lucky getting accepted and everything!
I have a quick question-
Do your grades have to be like, SUPER AWESOME?
I am going to apply, but I think I want to wait for my grades to be a little better. (not that they're horrible now or anything///)
A friend told me about a program at my school that sends students to korea and I think japan, so I'm hopefully going there...someday

At my school the GPA requirement is a 3.0 or better...so no, your grades don't have to be super awesome or anything. You should check with your school's requirements.

yup same with my school (all the UCs, actually), minimum is a 3.0. Selectivity probably depends on each host university and how popular it is among the students, but for mine (HKU) it wasn't so bad. 14 people applied and 9 got in. Two acquaintances of mine whose GPAs were barely over 3.0 got in. So it's not just about the grades, a huge part has to do with your own goals, future, etc.

I'm hoping to study abroad in Japan next year for two weeks (maybe a bit longer, this years trip is 18 days) in May, thorugh my community college. I looked at a activities list for the trip theya re taking this year, and it seemed pretty fun. And it didn't seem to expensive either, which is nice. Saving up for studying abroad is one of the hardest parts!

Let's say I just finished my 2nd year at the University of British Columbia, and since I am now eligible to go Global to other overseas schools is it possible to apply for another university for one semester to learn the Korean language for example?
Has anyone done school transfers in the middle of their degree?

I'm taking a taxi to Kentucky where they don't even know all about me. I just need to feel s a f e.
I've got a thousand sweaters, and shoes, and paintings to hide the skeletons in my way.
But he said, "Slow down, slow down. Think it over, we've all got wretched closets, but silly girl pride kills more than Aids lately."
I said, "Come on, I thought it over. I don't wanna die here. I have no desire to get m♥rried."
Every night I pray for you, don't believe in heaven or that it could be a happy place.

why do you hate it too? I usually don't hear about the negative aspects of studying abroad so I'm curious
I hope the inconveniences of adjusting to a new lifestyle won't make my experience less enjoyable x_X

Good luck. I'm a proud member of Rotary, but I haven't applied for its international scholarship though.

i Have 1 question to ask..^^
I am thinking of studying International Studies ( it's more towards business modules)
I don't know which place is good. Any recommendations?
And if i were to go overseas for studies. What kind of fees are there? other than the tuition fees...
