I'm about to do a study abroad in Korea soon. Soon as in a week, here - Soonchunhyang Uni.

looking forward to it. everything except the tuition (it is an exchange program) is paid for, as well as an attractive stipend every week (~150,000 won) laugh.gif

^ haha neat! Is that at KCC?! When I read this I automatically thought of KCC :].
But maaan I'm planning on doing that maybe 2 years from now. How did it go!?

For those who have gone through UC EAP and usually receive financial aid (i.e. grants + federal loans during the year and summer), how did you deal with the deposit? I know the cost depends and I've heard it ranges around $500-$700. Did you have to have to front this using whatever aid/money you had at that time, or can it get deferred through summer financial aid?

I'm planning for EAP Summer '09 and I'm trying to make budget preparations as soon as possible so I know how much to save. Unfortunately I don't think I can pay for a deposit (on top of tickets and other things) beforehand based on the aid I get normally each term...Because I'd need that money to live in the meantime too, you know? I also work but then I'd need to work more hours.

It would really suck if I can't go abroad just because I can't pay the deposit (even if that means qualifying for enough aid in the Summer).

Are you going through international exchange @ UH? I'm doing an exchange to Hiroshima University through UH too but I don't leave until end-September.

Like I said it really depends on your school. The year program included airfare, meals, insurance etc. so it's not that bad. The other year program to Japan was about $17000 excluding airfare (which is now about $1200 by itself). It would also depends where in Japan/Korea you would be studying and your spending habits.
The semester program is about $7,000, also excluding airfare.

Thanks for the info. ^^b

If you're attending a Community College in the US and want to study abroad try, "CCIE."
That program is amazing!!

Not sure if I posted this here, but two of my cousins were 'foreign exchange' students here in the U.S. and they came from Thailand. They used AFS and I've been searching throught the website for about a month or two now and it's a really REALLY good oppurtunity for anyone that wants to study abroad.

I've spoken to my AFS representative and if you're really interested, you can too. They answer any question/concerns you have; it's great! There's a forum to help you with any questions as well~

AFS WEBSITE

Check out the website for yourself and get started! There's studying for a year, a semester, summer language programs, and community service! There's so many countries to choose from too. I'm going to go for a language program to Thailand (to get my Thai straight lol) and then probably to Japan or France (:

You could try the Jet Programme if you're going to Japan. Though I think they want you to be able to teach students there english too...

Come to England! we'r very friendly =)

After 3 long years of being a struggling health science major, I never had the time or chance to study abroad (neither have any of my classmates other than business and law students) but thenn..I switched to a liberal arts major and I think I am going to have time so I'm excited biggrin.gif (dork moment)

I can't decide amongst: Beijing, Paris, or Rome..I'm considering London but it's all English-lit based and I've already fulfilled those credits. They had a program in Tokyo but the pre-req was at least 2 semesters of Japanese since it was an exchange program not just study abroad..ahh d*mn my school for being so limited in choices!

Hi. I'll have a my Associate degree in a couple of weeks (my major was Literary Studies) and I was wondering which colleges would enable me to finish my studies and earn a BA in Korea, preferably in Seoul? One that either does not require you to be fluent in Korean or one that allows you to learn it before you begin or something like that.

Because from what I've seen so far most only seem to offer a couple semesters.

HI

I am Michelle from Wichita Kansas, I am currently studying at the International Academy of Film and Television at Mactan Cebu, Philippines. The place is so great and with the hospitality of the people. Philippines is teeming with beautiful and scenic historical spots. And what's so cool to where I am studying is that it is actually located at the tropical island. There are a lot of sunny white beaches here. I'm kinda enjoying the place, the people and my school as well. See for yourself!

I just started college recently and I plan to be in it for 2 years. I want to study abroad in either Korea or Japan. Does anybody have any tips on how I can try to talk to some sort of dean or counselor about transferring later on?

Hi all. I'm studying A-Level now and will be finished by June 2009. I was wondering, do American and Canadian universities accept A-Level cert. holders? When I looked into some of the universities' (US) websites, they require all the applicants to take SAT exams in order to get in.

I know that the freshman year starts in Fall, but when exactly is it? If I were to apply for the 2009 classes, by when should I submit the application form? I couldn't find the calender for the class of 2009. Please help me out!
