Actually there is a stereotype, and I actually did stereotyped the viets (even though I'm viet myself) before checking this thread, and i never thought good looking viet dudes existed =.='

Gwyneth is soo pretty but it looks really photoshopped..I guess everyone photoshops their photos nowadays.

I don't think the stereotype here focuses mainly on Vietnamese people. It's for most South East Asians.

As far as having an ulzzang contest on cyworld, I find it difficult since we are limited on users on cyworld and I don't seem voters surpassing 50 in number so with such a little vote count it sort of makes any proclamation of a ulzzang sort of invalid. If anything the contest should be help on 360 instead of cyworld because there are a lot more viet users in 360. By holding the contest via 360 I can see there being over 250 voters or so. Still nothing compared to Soompi. It's a bit racial elitist to hold a viet only ulzzang contest on soompi and trust me, there will be a crap-ton of bashing for it.

cyworld ulzzang contest won't be possible until much time has passed so that there are more users and such. Anyways, isn't it still in beta?

Hmmm.. lets see. If we do this via 360 all we would need to do is create a new 360 and then invite as many people as possible. The voting can be done via blogs and pictures can be posted via yahoo picture share or flikr which I am not too familiar with. People can always comment via the comment box thing but generally votes will be counted through the blog. One blog entry for the girls contest and one blog entry for the guys contest.

I guess if the contest is successful and you want to keep the hype of the contest... maybe the contest holders can make an agreement with the contest winners if they can use those contest winners pictures or get updates on them so the voters can always keep track of them.. or something like that. Sort of like how people here keep track of the ulzzangs goings abouts via their pictures or blogs. Then you can hold another contest like in 4 months or something ot make it an annual thing.

Well thats just how I would do things to make an ulzzang contest.

i totally agree to ender... cyworld doesn´t seem like a good idea right now. if we do the contest on 360, we should have "staffmembers", who are fluent in english + vietnamese. blog entries can be done in two languages then, so that vietnamese people and viet kieus have a chance to participate. i think we should give it a try.

about the name: do we really want to name it "uhllzang contest?"? how about a translation?

any photo contest on soompi will stir up bashing. i remember the mr/mss soompi contest and the bashing ... but yeah, it´s difficult in general. cuz only viets are allowed to participate, but everyone else here on soompi would have to vote. i wonder how people would react to that...

uhmm... Ender, i get ur point.... but there is still one limit ^^ 360 Blog only allows 300 friends at the most... since they believe that no way ur gonna have more than 300 REAL friends ^^;; but yea.. it seems to be better than cyworld... since not a lot of ppl kno about it yet ^^;;

we were gonna do it in soompi... but we haven't got any replies from the moddies yet TT;; which means we possibly can't really do it here... tat's y we have to do it elsewhere .... >.,<

about the racial thing.. it's not intentional... since if we're able to do it on soompi, of course we wud do it for different nationalities that hold a majorities of members in the forum.... since we still don't kno if we cud do it [the percent of YES is low TT;;] so we have to do it in either 360 or cyworld... and obviously, those 2 places have mostly Viet members, if i remember correctly.... >.,< yea...

Ok. Vivian explained it already but, I want to explain too! xD . Anyways, we were originally going to post this up on soompi. But we didn't want any bashing for only having a Viet contest so we were going to have it with different nationalities. So, we asked the mod of the members 411 if we were allowed to before posting it up but we haven't gotten a reply. I'm sure that they don't want this because of mr/miss soompi stuff. So I was talking to Vivian and at that time, cyworld was our second choice. We never really thought of 360. And I agree with you Ender. There isn't that much people on Viet Cyworld. I told that to Vivian before. So she suggested that we recruit members or something.

Vivian - We have 8 judges now? I think...

Anyways, I hope Vivian's and my explanation cleared it up for you guys.

random: is it just me? or do the backgrounds of a lot of the pictures look like the people aren't in vietnam? i've been to vietnam. people don't dress like thanh son or andy. are they really in vietnam? or do they live in like a rich area or something? when i go to vietnam, i see people dressed like this: link 1, link 2

also, on the first page, thanh son's 3rd & 4th picture. does his nose look freakishly pointy to be natural? esp. for a person of viet ethnic.
