To the extent of my knowledge, Le Cordon Bleu is a program, not a specific school... Like the California Culinary Academy has the Cordon Bleu program.

Well, you graduate from the program after a year. He'll be getting to his one year around March? And then he has to get an externship where you work at a restaurant and they grade you on how well you work and learn.

Yeah... It's sad how people who don't know it blow it off like in My Name is Kim Sam Soon:
Guy: You graduated from high school and then went to France for the Le Cordon Bleu program?... (doesn't know what it is)
Sam Soon: Yes, I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu program which is one of the finest culinary programs in the world with a history of over 150 years (or something to that effect)
Guy: Okay so STILL just a high school graduate (basically doesn't care)

My dad hired a guy who graduated from the Le Cordon Bleu in SoCal and he doesnt seem to be to happy with the results from the school. I know the one in France is good, however i dont know much about the american branches. if my foods teacher and the guy my dad hired are any example then the SoCal branch isnt making good students. but i cant judge the school just on two people. plus i go to The Culinary Institute of America and i think its more based on the willingness for the student to open up and learn, cuz my school has some lackadaisical and unmotivated wannabe chefs

cca is a waste of money. i went to that crappy school. work at a restaurant and get real experience. get paid to learn how to julienne, small dice, etc. most chefs frown upon the cca.

and no. most of the food network chefs went to cia, j&w, fci or went to europe. theres an article on sf weekly that says the cca just wants money. most of the stuff you'll learn at cca, wont be used, you'll learn new and efficient ways of prepping. get out of the cca and go to ccsf. basically the samething at ,uch cheaper rate. an for those that say cca is prestigious name, it really isnt. they let anyone in. as long as you can sign your name on the loan, you're in. i seen mentally disabled people attending cca, and they dont know what they're doing. also they lie to you, saying you'll be exec chef when you get out. but really you'll be making less than 12 dollars an hour.

Ridiculously expensive. I think something like $40,000/year. But you're done after one year so :I
