hey, i`m a junior right now, and
i`ve actually made a thread like this
around sophmore year. well, i took the
SAT and did pretty bad...
i`m going to take them again and hopefully
reach my goal. anyway, my grades in my
first semester of sophomore year weren`t
that great, gpa of 3.8 but i really improved
2nd semester 4.1! I was really happy until
first semester grades came out for junior year
i mean, i didn`t do horrible or anything... i just
REALLY wanted to do better... i got a 4.1 this
semester but was striving for a 4.3...

i really want to get into UCSD... but yeah. what do you guys think?

What's your unweighted GPA? Overall unweighted GPA? UC's usually don't take weights.

What was the SAT you got?

DUDE I WANNA GET IN TOO!!! I was really worried because my friend (who goes there) told me that her friend got rejected and she had 4.3 and 1990 sat! ok guys here are MY stats:

gpa: 3.6, 4.0
sat: 1870
sat II: math 2 C: 800, us history: 620

ec: not much actually, the usual.

t.a. at chinese school
girls service club
president of taiwanese club
community helpline
a little work experience

UCSD is really not that hard to get in. And I thought UC's do take weighted GPA?

GPA-wise, I think you're good. Anything above a 4.0 is good enough for SD. It just now depends on your SAT. When you say you did "pretty bad", do you mean around 1700-1800 or 2000-2100.. (Yes, some of my friends do consider 2100 bad. ) But if your score is above 2000, I think you're good to go. But I'm not guaranteeing anything, it basically means you're the average person that should be able to get in with those stats (+4.0 weighted & +2000 SAT). Also, if you happen to take AP courses, your 4/5's on the AP exams will most definitely help.
