Starting this year, I think, my high school has just stopped ranking all together. They now just give out top like 10% as "honor students"
and don't do 1st/2nd/etc. ranks. Will this hurt me? Are any other schools like this?
Someday it'll stop hurting so much....

No. My school stopped ranking last year.

It honestly doesn't matter because GPA's are so inflated nowadays, and lots of kids play "the GPA game" to get higher GPA's. Valedictoran doesnt mean anything anymore.

please do not PM me asking me to close threads, etc! i am no longer a mod! ^^ thanks!

I don't think so. My school's never ranked because it would have hurt too many outstanding students; someone with a 4.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) might have ended up in only the top 50% of the class, which looks worse than having a 4.0 and not being ranked at all. After a certain point it's meaningless. Colleges usually still ask a question like "How rigorous was ____'s course load compared to his or her peers'?" anyway.
Hey, look! Finally a different signature after all these years!

It really depends on how high you were ranked before, because rank does help if you were ranked 1st-10th in your class. Especially for private colleges.

But generally, rank does not matter as much as it used to be. My school doesn't rank as well.
