Okay, guys! I have a few questions; can anyone help?

2. Is the Nikon D40x or D40's interface easy to use? I've used an XTi, and that was simple enough; does anyone have any thoughts on the operation of the Nikon?

I just bought a Nikon D40 three weeks ago and it's user-friendly considering that I'm a beginner. Right now, I'm reading the manual to learn how to use its features smile.gif

I'm going to have a one-on-one lesson with a photographer at Blacks... I can't wait!

If you could buy any Canon EF lens, which one would you get? Let's set the price limit at... $3000 laugh.gif

I would have said EF 85mm f/1.2L IS USM for sure before but now I'm getting... confused-__-

also, why don't you guys post your pictures up on the forum or a website or something?? share!!

I bought a Nikon D40 because I'm going to study abroad in England for 6 months (a good excuse as well to justify this purchase to my parents, might as well have great pictures)...I'm slowly learning, heh.

are we starting fresh? or is this based on our collection?

if i had no lenses, i'd go 24-70/2.8 + 70-200/2.8 IS + 50/1.4
based on my current collection... i dont really know... maybe the 135/2 L and the 100-400 L

the amount of post mod depends on the shot and what you are trying to achieve.. so it's yes and no. some of us have posted a few pics in this thread or have created threads in the artwork forum too.

hey guys, I'm looking to finally get an external flash for my canon. My budget really like the 430ex. Is there any reason I should go ahead and spend the extra on the 580? $100 is $100. Are there any benefits with the higher end one? I don't really shoot sports so recycle time is not that important. I don't really have a long reach with my lens line up so the extra flash distance would not really benefit me. Any thoughts?

the 580ex has one extra stop of power.... but that's about it. it does also have master flash capability, but if you only have one external unit, that functionality is pretty much useless. i say go the 430ex. you wont miss much unless you use multiple flash units.

Hey guys, I'm really stuck right now. I have $900 and my friend is offering me his Nikon D70s with two lenses, two memory cards, and a few other small accessories for $600. I've been saving this money for a motorcycle, but I haven't really gotten close to the right amount to buy one. Do you guys think I should spend my $600 on this Nikon D70s? He's broke and he needs some money fast. Plus his camera is in very good condition, never dropped it or scratch it. I need some input on this.

It depends on what kind of lenses they are. I would rather get a new D50 kit for ~$500-600 than a used D70s but maybe that's just me.
