I always see someone mentioning those. What exactly is AAA and DPA? Can anyone hit up on it?

If you are member of AAA you can get 6% off an item at Dell
For AAA members
DPA stands for dell preferred account - its like signing up for a credit card (financing)
Its good for a 4% discount

I like my 40D. It's really great. I know someone who uses a D80 and it's good too. I think in order to take pictures of food, you would need a macro lens - it doesn't have much to do with the camera body. Live view is the ability to see what's on the viewfinder on the LCD screen instead of the viewfinder - it's useful when you take pictures, especially macro pictures.

If I were you and I had the money, I'd get the 40D but I'm biased towards Canon laugh.gif

thanks minji smile.gif my friend ended up getting the d80 cause she was in a rush. but for me i think ill save up for a 40d in the near future. lol. ^^

btw, hows the iso of the 40d? i heard some cameras have a noise when its higher. hehehe smile.gif

who's hand was that in ur 5d pics? thats a cute hand. ^^ kekeke
many thanks to banner icons: sachiko & entermuriel avi:Brigichii

So my family (kinda) plans on getting a DSLR camera. (that mainly me and my sister will use cause we have more interest in photography.)
Plus I'm really really beginner. I have no idea about anything. sweatingbullets.gif Expecially all the lenses are the most confusing.

We are planning to use it on a summer trip to asia. XD Any tips? or recommendations on cameras? (expecially if youre only a beginner?)

Thanks. ;D

The D80 is really good but I think Nikon will be upgrading it soon since it's been out for quite a while now. Just a guess though. The noise on the 40D isn't bad but it's definitely better on the 5D. All cameras get noisy pictures with high ISOs - some more than others (like Kodak or Contax +_+). Canon is a well known brand for not as much noise in higher ISOs. And yeah that was my hand laugh.gif

Well I don't know if you'd think it was cheap but B&H Photo sells the XTi for $520. I almost always get photographic equipments there because they're reliable and I don't have to pay tax since they're in NY.

There are so many posts on this thread on what camera to get for beginners. Anyway it depends on what brand you want to get - Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Olympus, etc. For Canon the new XSi is coming out in April for $800-900 and Nikon just released the D60. If you want to save money, get either the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi or Nikon D40. Lens-wise, one lens with a good zoom should be good.
