^I doubt they're going to exchange it for you, whether it's Best Buy or Canon. The product itself works fine, yeah? It's like trying to get an exchange for getting your camera's screen scratched up, which is unlikely to happen (I mean that it's unlikely you'll get an exchange, not that it's unlikely you'll get your camera's screen scratched up).

ok so i happened to browse the ritz camera site...thanks to ordinarydaysx and found that they have the xti in stock and offer free shipping and no tax!!~ the actual store near me has xti for the same price but they charge tax. so if i choose to buy it online i can get the rebel xti for $120 cheaper than what i paid at samsclub. BUT...they have bad feedback on reselleratings.com...i called the store earlier and asked if i could return merchandise ordered online at their store location if there happened to be something wrong with it and they said yes. should i risk buying it online for $580 flat or should i just fork out the extra $50 and get it at the store?!

depends on whether you want to take a gamble. ritz is a hit or miss place.
just go with whatever gives you more peace of mind.
the sooner you start taking photos, the happier you'll be.

ok so i just returned the broken xti at sams. i was fiddling with the xsi and thought it was nice! sweatingbullets.gif
besides the megapixels and that u can take pictures using the live lcd screen is there really a big difference between the xti and xsi?

i think the sale ends this saturday...so if you're planning to buy the xti, do so before then =)
i should've checked that they had free shipping and no tax...i bought it at the store. but then again, i needed my camera before the 12th, so it was important that i get it before then.

either way, it beats the sam's club price, right?

right! so i just got back from ritz camera on my lunch break. they had ONE left and good thing i put it on hold over the phone because there were other people in the store that wanted it but i was like NUH UH thats mine. lol. so yea i decided not to risk buying it over the internet. BUT i did find out a neat thing from one of the drug reps that come to my office. his friend owns this place called THE OUTLET ELS in monrovia, california (supposed to be 30 mins from torrance but i dunno) and called just to ask if they had the xti and they did for $350 but the body only. warranty and everything still in effect. if anyone lives near and is willing to drive there and wants an xti body only i think you should check it out.

I'm finally getting a fisheye lens -- it's coming on Monday! I could have ordered faster shipping but I knew if I got it today I'd play with it all weekend when I should be studying for my final sleep.gif

Has anyone tried using SD/SDHC to CF adapters? Sometimes SD cards seem more versatile especially since my laptop has a SD slot but no CF. No real price advantage but I see it as a nice CF feature to add more functionality.

Generally, the converter slows down the read and write speeds. Honestly, with memory prices the way they are, I don't think it's a worthwhile tradeoff. I have the same problem that I didn't have a CF card reader but I picked up a USB 2.0 multicard reader for less than $10 at my local computer store and problem solved.

the quality of the pictures are great. the 85 is my favorite lens, hands down. it's just not my most used because it's a bit long for a crop camera. but i use it whenever i can. i love the pictures that come from it. sharp, vivid... just beautiful smile.gif

Hey guys, I was wondering..

since I don't know much about buying dslr cameras nor do I know which I want..

Would it be better to buy a camera first and lenses seperate? Or would it be easier to buy both in a kit? Thanks!

I'm interested in the nikon d40 but i heard that it has very limited functions too.. is that true? should i go for a canon eos xsi instead?

Wow, that looks like a very reasonable deal. Does the $738 includes that $170 worth of warranty?
Time to google those lenses
