nah.. san jose. it's actually $1600. it's being sold on ebay by a POTN member. if you guys arent in the loop yet, microsoft is promoting its search engine. use your MSN id to sign up for a MS Live cashback account. you'll get 25% off all your ebay purchases. the only drawback is that this is a rebate system. you pay down now, and once your payment is cleared, MS will track your purchase and add money into your cashback account. you can then have MS send you a check for the rebate. [i repeat, this is NOT an ebay discount. Microsoft is sending you a check for this]

using the live.com search engine also gets you smaller discounts on other sites. like 2% off at BH, 7% at adorama, etc. go crazy =)

[EDIT] update!! the live.com rebate tops out at $200... though i think 1400 is still a kick-butt price for a like-new 5D

no good. they gonna pull a bait and switch on you. i suggest buying from B&H or buydig or canogacamera.com. if you outside of NY, i say BH. if you outside of cali, then canoga camera. check out buydig anyways in case the prices are cheaper there.

nah... im going all canon from here on out. after shooting at enough weddings and events, i've decided that HSM < USM. as great as HSM is, i get less misses with USM. plus, im lookin to try to lock in a good price on a 5D soon. if im lucky, i can still get that 5D deal for $1300... my 30D + 30/1.4 + 10-20/3.5-5.6 should cover that cost, or 90%+ of it anyways

Newegg.com is also a good alternative for camera equipment. Its primarily an online computer outlet, but they have tons of camera and lense selections as well. For most states its no tax and shipping is relatively cheap (often free shipping offered). Considering how much camera equipment costs, that is a huge savings. Photography equipment cost is roughly identical at almost any reputable retailer so that shouldn't be an issue. Any discrepancy can easily be offset by "no tax".

I sold the body alone (like new in box) for $1500 on craigslist. I'm sorry... but I figured you guys wouldn't settle for $1500 even though it was in like new condition. I see people still trying to sell their 5D for $1800 (some guy was trying to sell his 2 year old 5D at that price ) and I laugh at their silliness.

well, if u sold it now, i woulda bought it. i bought the 5D on ebay for 1400 [after microsoft rebates]. couldn't get the extra 100 off. oh well... i also sold my sigma 30. gonna sell my sigma 10-20 and canon 30D soon.

Yeah, and I was in a hurry to get rid of it and at first I was happy that it was taken so fast (only 3 hours after posting on craigslist) but then I was sad because I thought I sold it for too little and I miss it like crazy. I just need to wait one more month!

And I ended up upgrading to Leica D-Lux 4 (I sold the D-Lux 3, also very fast) and it's a thing of beauty. That reminds me I also need to sell my G9... +_+;;;;

hmm.. i can still get 200+ outta that... covers a good portion of a 50/1.4
i bought it at $300 btw... so not too big of a loss

^just wondering if you really like that focal length. For some reason, alot of 5D users from forums either prefer something longer like an 85 or something wider like a 24 or 35mm.

btdubs, did you sell your 30mm? I'm wondering how pictures will look taken with that and a 5D. I'm assuming there will be some vignetting?
