Experience has nothing to do with dealing with more than one brand mellow.gif

With your budget, pretty much all you can afford is either Nikon D40 or Olympus E-520. Unless you're printing out posters, 6mp is more than enough.

yeah thanks for your opinion.

^where are you buying it? If online, check it out at resellerratings.com to see if it's legit or not.

@above
I think most of the people here are Canon fans with the exception of the sony and olympus guy so the opinion might be biased tongue.gif

If thats true, that would be a super price.. Like the other person said, make sure its legit. I'm not sure if you can even buy a used one for that price. Even the $400 pack doesn't sound too bad.

The camera comes with the NB-2LH rechargeable battery, worth thinking about buying more batteries in the future but usually one battery lasts quite a long while!

oh well i have no idea how to see if i's legit or not O___o
i'm so noob!
but my friend gave me this website with the prices i named earlier,
http://soniccameras.com/catalog/product_in...ra_info=package

is it legit? xD thanks for the advice!! i'm so glad i ask soompiers first ^^

I was thinking of getting a EOS Canon XSi. It comes with Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS Lens and Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS Lens. The whole package is $850, and I'm curious, is this a good package?

LOL you might want to reconsider that person as your "friend" if they're recommending sites like Sonic Cameras to you wink.gif

Sonic Cameras is one of the most famous scammers based out of NY. I first read about it several months ago at :
http://thoughts-of-dave.blogspot.com/2008/...camerascom.html
His blog actually has several posts about camera scammers and how they do business, how they run many similar sites etc. As long as you're not actually trying to buy something, it's actually a really fascinating read.

Definitely stick to the reputable places. Amazon actually has surprisingly decent prices most of the time and B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/) is one of the most famous and reputable camera stores around. Even though they can't be always the lowest price, if someone beats them by a LOT, be very VERY careful.

It's a good starter package, I'd say. You can get the same package for cheaper (~$780) at Amazon though.

^looks like you guys had fun. Might want to run that second pic through some noise ninja or something. The chroma noise on the top left wall is too noticeable.

But yeah, I like event photography, specially the candids and journalist flavor.

opps, not that shot.
The original was taken in low key, so when i did exposure comp. in lightroom, the ugly noise started to show.

I wish I could see the exif info. Was your iso high enough? You get better noise control exposing correctly at high isos than using low iso with exposure compensation and sliding the exposure up in pp.

What digital slr would you recommend
for like the quality you would see
taken for models you find in the magazine,
like something for a human photoshoot
but a low price.
after all my photoshoots and such
i've gotten really inspired to take pictures of OTHER PEOPLE
like my friends, who dont have a chance to model or what not
its an awesome experience for them, and myself too right.
obviously, these arent cheap
but something that would balance between price and quality ?
perhaps its the lenses that do the magic?
if so, which lense would be fit for this case?
yeah im some noob
smile.gif thanks

I understand your in a low light situation, but imo it's too much iso.

The first and third pictures had noise added intentionally.
The second, perhaps i should use a better calibration target profile in neat image.

Honestly, what SLR you get doesn't really matter a huge deal. Most SLRs these days give good enough image quality.

Getting professional, magazine quality results I'd say, sure a great lens would be nice, but it's really lights, hair, makeup and Photoshop which get those results (aside from, of course, the skill of photographer).

There are many aspects which Photoshop simply can't compensate for (although its getting closer by the version release). It does make it scary that one day that other than composition of the shot, post processing can take care of pretty much everything else.

LOL even now there's already camps of photographers who are for or against post processing. I can't even imagine in the future as Photoshop gets better and better.
