MMmmmm. I have a question,
Do you think purchasing the Nikon D 90 Kit is a good investment? My mom suggested buying the costco kit because there's a 90 day refund in case I don't like it.

I heard the 18-108mm VR lens it comes with sucks.
Yeah I defiantly recommend the 50mm f1.8 lens as well. It's a must for a photographer I think XP. And it's reasonably priced too (about 100 bucks on amazon).
If you have the money for it: Get a 18-200mm VR Lens! Lol I wish I did....
18-105mm doesn't do such a bad job.
Well the thing is..what are your needs? If you absolutely must have video , then sure, if not...not really unless money is not an issue. There are many limitations to the D90's movie mode ( I own one ). If video is what you're interested about then I'll explain

D90 has some other incremental features over the D80 like new CMOS sensor..3inch LCD ( woo bigg ), live view ( meh i only use it for video ), 4.5fps and some other things.

i got a 18 - 135mm with the standard kit.
don't let the price of the 50mm f1.8 fool you. its excellent, especially since you're photographing people. best bang for your buck.

Okay so I'm looking to buy my first DSLR. I'm tied between getting these:
Nikon d40
Nikon d60
Canon rebel xsi
& maybe a Nikon d80
personally I'd say D80 :]
