In my opinion it's like heaven in a camera. One of my friends has one and i got hella jealous. its very comfortable to use, and feels good in the hands.
I'm thinking of getting the D700 instead of the D300. Sadly its like 1,000 more then the D300. =( Hands down its a really good camera, full frame sensor which is a plus. =)

I've had it for, hm... about a month? And I am loving it! It has been on my camera since I first got it, and I've learned a lot from it... more than I would have learned from my 18-200, probably. XD Totally worth every penny I paid for it, and then some.
A few of my friends have tried shooting with it (they're completely newbie to SLRs haha) and it's kinda funny watching them try to turn the focus ring in an attempt to zoom... and then they go "it doesn't zoom? gosh this lens sucks" LOL. I really don't mind that it's a prime lens, actually... back when I was contemplating whether or not I should get this lens, a few of you mentioned that the lack of zoom might be an inconvenience to me, but for some reason I actually like that it doesn't zoom. lol I have no complaints about the fact that I have to move around.

Definitely. Canon used to be the only game around town with full frame, now Sony and Nikon both have it. Canon doesn't really have a lot more to offer than other companies now like it used to before imo.

I personally use either my Nikkor 50mm 1.8 or my Tamron 90mm DI Macro lens, with the nikon during low light or general use.
I can safely say that the tamron is one fricken sharp glass - the bokeh (background blur) is just gorgeous too, i highly recommend it. Works perfectly for macro and portraits; my only beef with the lens is during low light where may have trouble locking focus. Ill be picking up the Nikkor 85mm 1.8 soon as well - mainly for indoor low light situations (sports). The 85mm lens is also very reknown as a specialised portrait lens,
For stationary subjects such as flowers the 60mm will be fine... but if your going to get into insect macroing - you'll want a 105mm at the very least, the 60mm lens will focus (1:1) at around 2inch (check here); which is WAY too close before the insect runs (or jump on your face). 90~105mm will get you about 30cm. The Nikkor 105mm Macro lens is one of the most sharpest lens within the Nikon line; having said that, Thom Hogan whom is a widely respected reviewer said the Tamron 90mm DI Macro lens is basically the poor mans Nikkor Macro lens;
"Optically, this lens may match the Nikkor in this review in every respect, if not exceed it a bit in the corners wide open. The big difference is this: for $400 less money, you give up VR, focus speed, and a bit of build quality from the Nikon 105mm. That's about it. The Tamron 90mm is the poor man's mid-range macro." (I bought the Tamron and couldnt believe the optical quality coming from this third party lens; as i usually stick to Nikkor's.

Hmm. Maybe it's because I'm a Canon shooter and I've been desensitized to the greatness of Canon since I use it a lot O_O I find it funny that the D700's price dropped while the 5D Mark II went up even though people say that D700 is much better than 5D Mark II.
Did you guys check out the new lenses announced?

I don't know much about tilt shift lenses though... Just that they're good for taking photos of buildings? O_O
I wonder if the 35mm f/1.4L will ever be updated... There were rumors that it would be updated this year, but guess not.

Haha if you lived nearby, I'd totally sell you my Lensbaby 3G which I used what, 3 times in the past 1.5 years? -.-; It's definitely interesting to use, especially on full-frame.

I've been eyeing Nikon for awhile but I just didn't know which model was for ME.
I'm new to photography and have lots to learn actually.
Anyone else have the d60?

do you guys know of any trustworthy sites that I can get accessories for a decent price? (filters, travel bag, tripod, etc.) I'm just not 'feeling' BB's prices.
