So i learned my lesson and finally purchased a circular polarizing filter.
(i realize that the horizon isn't straight in this stich, but i'm just too lazy at the moment to fix it)

What brand did you get? People often go you need coating others say not necessary and I look at the "good" ones and im like $60 for that?! Uhh.. okay. I know non-multicoated will generate more flares but I dont know...

erure: I have to ask with all of our other camera equipment why did you pick up, well I assume, another point-and-shoot type camera? Was there something specific that caught your eye with the EP-1 versus other similar type cameras?

i wanna ask to 400D owners.

ur screen brightness what level do u put it at to get the exact look how ur picture look like.
example u set up ur exposure and such, when u view it on ur camera and in computer its the same.
coz mine when i view it on camera looks good..but when view it in computer its under exposed.some people say only 400D got this problem.other camera u just need to put the screen brigtness on the middle level.

I will try my best to fight my temptation to flame...
The EP-1 is miles away from a "point and shoot" for two very importaint reasons:
1. It is an interchangeable lens camera. You can swap lenses in just the same way as a traditional DSLR.
2. The sensor. The sensor, is in fact, the same type of sensor found in other traditional Olympus DSLR's (ie. E-3, E-620, E-520).
In fact, the sensor is MUCH BETTER than anything out there in the olympus lineup that is commertially avaliable.

The camera is small because it does not have a mirror box. Instead of having a optical viewfinder and a mirror that flips between the viewfinder and the sensor, light is directly exposed onto the sensor at all times, and thus, liveview is used exclusively (although an OVF can be purchased as an accessory/addon).

It is, in closing, NOT A POINT AND SHOOT (i find the assumption insulting)

ps. awdark, i got el chepo sunpak as a desparation, as i couldn't find a decent camera shop around the area before i had to hit the beach (purchased at BB)

lol epark1281 answered the question well enough. The E-P1 is the first compact micro four thirds camera ever. It's like a piece of history x) Even though it's quite small, the image quality is up to par with DSLRs, and it can use different lenses. There are all sorts of adapters available for micro four thirds -- I can even use my Leica lenses with it. And I can never resist such a pretty camera -- in white too! laugh.gif

Anyway, here are some more photos taken with the E-P1:

I adjusted the settings so that I get a copy of RAW and small JPEG. Right now I'm working with just the JPEGs since Photoshop isn't compatible with the E-P1 RAW format yet.

that would be the worlds most expensive point and shoot.

Ahhh Seaport Village! I always go there whenever I'm in San Diego. I haven't been there in a year and I'm currently in the area. So right now I'm hoping to visit that place while I'm still here.

Nice shot! I'm guessing you had your filter attached?

mmm juicy shots. I saw a customer the other day with 3 leicas in his hands .. I was so sad tears.gif

Here's one of the many shots of the peacocks I was photographing a couple months back. I still have lots of editing left. It looks a lot better on Lightroom.. the data must have gotten lost during the exportation process.

To be fair I didn't really think it more than a fancy PS camera. We all kind of know the hardware she (erure) shoots with...let's face it she owns a small camera shop. So it was a little strange that knowing that bit of information she would choose another camera that from a lay persons perspective looks similar to a PS.

To epark1281 & erure: Thanks for the information.
