if you have enough money, i'd say just buy the camera body and the 50 1.4

forget the package lens, they are decent but you'll end up selling them when you buy the 50
save the hassle of time and money of buying the less decent lens and buy better one which you will more likely keeping later on!

i was thinking about that too.. but since it's by first time buying dslr..
if i get it in package.. it's a lot cheaper with all the accesories that i get along with it..
so it's kind of getting the lens for free..

you know on the NIKON D40, the LCD, can it only read the display thingie, or show the picture youre about to take?
like do you have to look through the optical viewfinder everytime you wanna take the picture?

I don't have a D40, but I think all DSLRs require you to look through the viewfinder ...

The LCD only acts as a display ... I mean, the viewfinder is how the true Gs do it. ...

i have a D40...and yes if you hate lookin through the viewfinder..dont get this

I like looking at the viewfinder...and that is the best and true way to take pics in my opinion.

Isn't that the same for all DSLRs except like, the new Canon 1D Mark III? Anyway I know the Canon 400D is like that too...

Yeah it kind of sucks since we take the photos we're never in any of the pictures T__T And no one can take a picture of us in a cool artsy way unless you have another friend who's a photography hobbyist.

i totally feel u on that! lol i simply adore photography but my friends are just eeps about it.

Yeah ... Someone can see your plates, get your address, hunt you down, and jack your DSLR

haha ... But yeah ... Plates can get some info on your car.
