heres my thoughts on it after the day:
-the controls which nikon delibertely made extra complicated, not the most user friendly controls...seriously...what were they thinking, you need two hands to do everything
-auto wb is pretty bad, always gets tricked very very easily
-the in camera meter is often metering quite off many many times
here are the thoughts from reine mihtla, who i was assisting
-focus is usually off
-bad in camera metering
-very un-user friendly
-auto wb is bad
so shes selling her D2X and going to keep on using film on nikon cameras and a mamiya rz67 (its amazing to see how fast she works with that mamiya)
just a thought if you plan on buying a D2X.

The only Nikon user I can think of (on this thread) is tepper.
I heard that the controls for Canon 1Ds Mk II is also pretty weird but once you get used to it, it's a breeze.

i use an a100-k with 18-70 / 3.5 - 5.6
it's only been a little over half a year since i purchased.. now i'm really wanting to purchase some lenses but they're so expensive here in korea! does anyone know any places/websites that ship internationally?
thanks in advance for any help

the sigma has gotten a mix of good and bad reviews. it's convenient and IS helps a lot, but still has the same issues that all hyperzoom lenses have. i'd say go for it if you want a 'do it all' lens. but if you want better quality, you're going to have to get multiple lenses.
best place to buy lenses?
canogacamera.com (no tax if you live outside of cali)
bhphotovideo.com (no tax if you live outside of NY)
amazon.com (when they have discounts)
dell.com (when they have special discounts)
buydigg.com
generally BH is the way to go. canoga camera if you're outside of cali. amazon and dell sometimes have some crazy cheap deals. newegg also has rare deals that are almost like steals. they sell it so cheap, you can sell it back for almost 50% profit. but really really rare. buydigg also has good prices, especially on accessories.

thanks Watcher very helpful. i'll go check out the sites u've listed. i am looking for the convenience of an all in 1 untl i save u enuff mullah to get better lenses.

oh yea, i left out one other site (since i dont opt for sigma very often) but when buying sigma lenses, the cheapest place to find them is usually at sigma4less.com. i've had good experience with them, though not as good as canoga camera or BH

My friend has the 70-200mm f/4L and I have the 70-200mm f/4L IS and it's a world of difference...

perhaps IS is useful in some certain situations but i still really name any
that $1000 you save on the IS is quite a lot i must say, i rather be spending that money on anther lens
if that were my money, i'd go buy the 85 1.2L actually hehe

If you don't know, then maybe you shouldn't get it. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy any DSLRs but if it's something you're sort of interested and not fully into, it's not worth spending over a thousand dollars on, you know? Try a Nikon D40 or a D50 (D50 is better but D40 is newer) and get some lenses before upgrading the body. This is all just a suggestion based on my opinion >_<

I don't know it just irks me when people who don't know anything get cameras beyond their skills and think they'll be great photographers because they have great equipment :I It's the lens that matters not the body.

well, put your camera in P mode, and anyone can be a 'decent' photographer!
hehe... but in the end, what does it matter? if one is a bad photographer, the pictures will show for it, and so will the subsequent reactions from other people.
im far from being a good photographer. but i do enjoy having nice gear, and have no regrets with starting with the 30D (as opposed to the xti)
