as the title says above, im thinking of doing redoing braces again.

i had braces in 7 turning 8th grade and took it out in 9th turning 10th grade.
im in 10th grade right now so its been about 7 months i had it off.

i regret not taking out the 4 teeth i was supposed to take out, and now my mouth/teeth sticks out like a fish because the room in my jaw is too small? (no overbite)
so im planning to take out those 4 teeth i was supposed to take out and redo braces for another 2 years.

i really want to do it, my mom is allowing me to get it done, but shes also saying doing that to your teeth will weaken the gums alot.
so im kind of dry.gif on it....

is it safe?
Lucas Gil, I love you <3

i wouldnt have a clue, i'm planning to re-do my braces aswell most likely towards the end of this year or something. It does weaken your gums, and someone told me that when u get older ur teeth will fall off easier ROFL ! but i have no idea, i'm still gonna do it.

hmm...you should talk with your dentist and orthodontist first to see if it's safe
i had braces in 4th grace (4 on top, 4 on bottom), got them out in 5th grade, and went back on braces (full mouth braces) in 9th grade and got them out in 10th so my situation's different from yours
but that's kinda soon...it's only been 7 months since you've gotten them off O_O

besides the time issue, i think you should do it
teeth are pretty important aesthetically (i honestly don't mean to sound shallow or anything) and imagine how it'll feel when you have perfectly straight teeth with a slight overbite smile.gif
i don't think it'll weaken you gums either

good luck with whatever decision you make!!~

I got them redone. like you, I didn't take out 4 teeth and it protuded out. So I got them done again 2 years later. I say do it because you're going to have them stick out for the rest of your life.

Hearing this make me want to go get my wisdom teeth out they are coming out and started to take the room in my mouth and ummm.... I'm wearing a braces right now so I better get it out soon or else I might have some teeth or tooth sticking out when I take my braces out.

Ask your orthodontist and dentist first b4 u do anything to your teeth they will tell what to do what safe or what's not.

I think it is most likely safe.
I had braces for a year and a half and then got them off, which was about 3 years ago. But as time wore on, I was .. iffy about wearing my retainers, so my teeth were shifting over. Long story short, I had to get them redone last July.. well not HAD TO, but my ortho was unhappy with the way it looked, so he let me do it over again, free of charge.

But i'm pretty sure you'll be able to. I'd suggest you redo them. Better now than never!

LOL, it will not weaken your gums.

Fix 'em now and wear your retainer (can not stress that enough)! I didn't wear my retainer most of the time and my teeth got out of alignment for a bit. Coincidentally, I had to get jaw surgery which required me getting braces again so it's all good lol... I get mine off in 2-3 months! biggrin.gif

if your jaw is too small, why don't you get it widened?
i know someone who had some sort of retainer glued to their teeth and across the top of their mouth, there was a band with a little swivel that she had to twist each night to widen the length of the band.
i don't know if that would help you.

but getting braces again is fine. just talk to your orthodontist about everything and yeah it'll be fine.
