1) stay in Boston, my home, get a magazine internship with a small but hip start-up publication that I would LOVE to work at. And that's a big "if" because I am interviewing for them in a month. My friends and family are all in Boston too.
2) I can go to Korea and intern for virtually any English-language media outlet available (my family has connections). TV, newspaper, magazine. Sounds great, right? But I'm scared that it won't look as good on my resume - English-language media is far from well-established there, and success is less recognizable to American publications (which is where I want to work post-college). Then again, since I could in theory intern for the most prominent English-language publications in Seoul, maybe I'm wrong. Please correct me if I am.
I could always spend half my summer in Boston, and the other half in Korea. I get 4 months of vacation in total. But I think that's kind of risky. I could definitely do the Korean internship for 2 months if needed, but I doubt the Boston internship will want to hire me for only 2 months.
Also, the more I think about it, the more Korea is tempting me. Family connections could open a lot of doors for me. Also, I'd be living with my mom, who can be...oppressive, but I'm essentially 21 years old and I'm pretty sure she couldn't stop me from going on a date or two
What would you do? Thanks!
