Goodness, HoA is such a hard subject, haha, but maybe 'cause I don't take much of detailed notes? Bleeeeeh~

if your teacher is quizzing you on the details and not on the overarching themes and concepts, then they aren't a good teacher, imo. any idiot can sit there an memorize a packet word for word if they had the time. what is difficult is being able to understand the cause&effect, and how events impact the international community.

Btw, I love all the IB abreviations and quirky terms. SL, HL, IA, EE, ToK, CAS, IBO, SDS, Paper One, Paper Two, Predicteds, Group 1-6....and of course, BS.

HL : higher level
SL : standard level
dunno what IE is, unless you mean IA, which is internal assessment
EE: extended essay. there's others like TOK (theory of knowledge), CAS (creative, action, service - volunteer stuff), IBO (ib org). =)

I'm debating whether which of the 3 sciences to take for IB.

we finished with renaissance faire a few weeks back.
it was fun
anyways if you do full diploma, associates or certificate.
Most of them get into the same colleges/universities.

i took HL chem and HL bio
it really wasn't that bad except for labs. i remember at one point in lab i had 5 labs going on at the same time. 3 for bio, 2 for chem. and each one had a writeup of 10-20 pages. not really that fun.
but if you can manage your time well and you're thinking about heading into the health field, it's a good option.

HL Bio from what I hear isn't that hard, just lots to memorize.
as for HL chemistry, I think its quite easy actually. My teacher goes really fast and assumes we know things we don't
At my school you can't take all 3 sciences due to scheduling difficulties and the only possibility of take all of them is if you take physics before school and its just reg. physics not IB.
I'm taking Physics SL and Chem HL right now.

you are "official" when you are a junior in high school.
as for being a sophomore you are known as pre-IB

That's pretty much the case it seems, now, in eleventh grade IB.
It's pretty awesome, though. There's some critical thinking involved if you happen to forget to read the notes and have to come up with an answer that makes sense, however.

I don't know whether I should or not.
I was going to try for Columbia, but after a discussion with my mom, I don't know.
Because she said that it's not like she'd stop me if I really wanted to go, but she wouldn't want me to since it's so far away.
And the teacher in charge of IB at my school said that if we want to apply for prestigious schools and we're not in IB, we're going to have to explain why we weren't. And of course it just looks better.
BUT if I'm just going to the university here in my city, I don't really need the IB diploma.
I mean, it's nice, but I don't want to work my butt off so hard in high school and then still have to work really hard later.

Not hard. You spend half of the class looking at graphs and stats. A little math is involved but it's nothing an IB student can't handle. If you want to go into commerce, this is a good option. Don't take Business Management because a lot of universities don't consider that an academic course, along with the Group 6 arts courses.

It really depends on the university.
Check their site to see if they give credit for IB or read the FAQs of some uni sites to see if you're on the right track.
Coordinators say a lot of things...
The one at my school told us that if we didn't do full-IB, it would tell colleges that we weren't hard workers (through most people from our school last year were accepted to universities without it, but they did have good ECs). And this year when I went on a tour to a uni, they said that the need of the IB diploma depends on what you want to major in. So, if you plan to work hard in a uni, you should do full-IB or some IB classes relating to your major so you'll get used to uni-level work. xD

Wehh, my friends say either way it's hard.
Two of them are failing and one of them is going to switch to Math Studies.
In Math Studies we're learning about 6th grade math...lawls.

Can I have some question? Does anybody here has written a lot of lab reports form chemistry? I'm going to write my first report, but I don;t really know how it has to look like, plus I can't think of any good justification =_= " Investigate the volume of the drops" in CuSO4 and C7H12O2.... HELP? T_T any hints for me?
