spanish SL is relatively easy. remember that your spanish oral is already a pretty decent sized chunk of your external assessment.

i would recommend to practice writing using a variety of verb tenses. the short essays can end up sounding pretty bad when you use the same 3 tenses over and over and over lol

Ahhh, May is approaching... T_T IB tests and AP tests.

How hard are the Spanish SL tests? I'm really worried :X

...I suck at Spanish and suprisingly, I got a six on my Spanish SL exam. I thought it was really easy. biggrin.gif Make sure you use practice tests! In our class, we did that a lot. So, it really helped a lot! I finished before the time limit too, thus once I was done, I fell asleep in the room. Hahaha.

I go to an IB school where I hear a lot of complaints about how difficult the work is. At first I tossed up the decision of choosing whether to do it or not, but I ended up fearing the workload instead.

It's a lot of hard work and even with normal classes, I'm already dying. I hope you guys all do well smile.gif.

GPA: 3.36 ........ what grades do you have?

ohmy.gif i was going to go there, but i'm sticking to magruder or maybe atholton.^^ (i'm thinking you know what it is.. its only 5 min away from there) and get straight As rather getting B's/C's at richard montgomery.

my brilliant cousin says its really hard and she doesnt get enough sleep (like 5 hours?) . >.< it would have been nice if me and her went to the same school though~ aha.

IB students tend to complain the most about the work that they got themselves into.

No kidding. I was the biggest procrastinator back then...haha...

Spanish SL test is not hard! It would be if you didn't study! Just practice writing in spanish without using a Spanish-English dictionary and you'll be fine when the test comes up!

Just remember to know the past tenses and conditional etc...

ohmy.gif I never knew there was an IB thread. Well now I do.
Anyways, I signed up for the IB program, but I don't know if I'm "in" yet or not.
I was wondering when we find out whether or not we get it?
My parents are really against me going because it's hard, but I want to do it anyways.
But reading this thread makes me jealous xO
The school I'm going to only has French/Spanish/Vietnamese, and we have the WORST electives ever. Only music, art, drama, & the extra science classes.
D: Well if I get accepted, I'm probably going to be going back to this thread, to complain of course biggrin.gif ~

might be b/c our school is a little more lenient, but if you dont want to take art or music or theater and substitute with another SL, say SL Bio, then its ok. they told us its "better" to have a class be it SL or HL in one of the brackets, like a hist, sci, math, art, ect class. but not everyone does that.

Oh alright thanks.
Because lol I'm not artistic, and art or music subjects are just like HUH to me. Haha.

And yeah I'm going to be taking pre-IB next year, because at the school I'm going to it's mandatory and then for grade 11/12 I can choose full IB, partial, or just regular class.

That's how my school is. It's pretty good, because when I changed from pre-IB to full IB, it wasn't so much of a shock.

Im in it right now, but I dropped it for next year. I personally think it's useless for me. I mean I'm not looking to go to a school in europe or something, just a place close to home. I also think it's a lot of work, and it doesn't make too much of a difference. IMO, it looks better to have a mark of 90 and above in academic, then to have 70's in IB. Oh and plus it's expensive and you have a limited choice of what courses you want to take. See I have no idea what I want to be, so I want to try a bunch of different courses and see what I excel at and what I like. IB doesn't give you room for that. lol I could go on and on about now I think IB is horrible...but I think you get the point.

thats basically what my senior friends have been telling me, its like they work 29304239 times hard and yet .. next year when they go off to college their dorm mate will basically have no idea about how hard they had to work and yet still get in to the same school. but i think in the long run ib helps you get use to the college standard and worth ethics .

^^ yeah your right, it definitely does help your work ethics and being ready for university. I just don't wanna be burned out before I even get to university, you know? But I think every person is different, and IB may be the choice for some but it's just not for me.

yeah i know what you mean, it depends, lol IB is a hard course, and its meant to be spread out, some people however are just strong in say math-science, and weak in history-english, and IB might not be for them, thats what my guidance counselors suggested too, if a person is really advance in a subject, then maybe they should just stick to having say an AP Math-Science schedule and an honors english and history.
