I recorded some stuff I filmed off my DVD recorder. Now I need to rip the DVD....what program do I use???
Finally someone has managed to ask the right question now I can go on and proceed with steps needed to backup a DVD. Intended use of this disc is for non-copyrighted discs.
What you'll want to do is go to a website such as www.afterdawn.com/ and download a program called DVD Decrypter. Best ripping tool available today and relatively easy to use. Once that program is downloaded and installed on your computer, pop the DVD in your PC and fire up Decrypter. When that is open select MODE on the program tab above and select FILE MODE.

Be sure to tell the program where to place these files, you'll should be able to set it underneath DESTINATION.

After that is done go ahead an Decrypt, should take a few minutes to rip depending on the disc size. Hope that helps you out.

DVD Shrink is a relatively easy tool to use and I think it works with DVD Decrypter!
I've been using DVD Shrink recently on those bad DVDs that the DVD player just won't play.
DVD Shrink let's you back-up the entire DVD or select only parts you want. Saves it in ISO format and just use your favorite burning software and burn it.

Thanks, that was a good tutorial, I got the files ripped.
I should've made my question more specific. I want to edit. I got .iso and some other files from the decryptor. I need .avi or .mpg or SOME kind of video file. I can't edit .iso files.
I borrowed a firewire cable from school but I forgot my mac is not in operational mode and I can't use it.
Please help!! It's for a school project ==;

If you have the ISO file then what you can do is download a small program called Daemon Tools and mount the ISO to the virtual drive using D-Tools. Once that is done you'll have a full DVD at your disposal or on the other hand you can go ahead and proceed to compress those videol files created with DVD Decrypter to .avi.
There are plenty of ways you can go about this so head to the DivX & XviD section on the link below...
