So I go to install a bluetooth dongle using the built in Xp x64 generic drivers. It do what it does great, but my internet connection craps out. No connection at all. I do a system restore and my internet works again, but still there would be no point in having the dongle if I can't use it. So I turn on my virtual windows XP machine on and install the dongle on that. Dongle works fine, internet on virtual xp works fine and also on my X64 internet is fine. Obviously it's a hassle to turn on a virtual machine every time I want to use the dongle. I'm clueless on where to even start on fixing this problem to enable me to install it on my real operating system with my internet still working. Should there be any settings I should check or something? Im sure other x64 users have successfully use dongles on their system, but why can't i?

What I would check for is to see if your computer is trying to use the USB dongle as the modem instead of your network. Seems stupid, but it might just be trying that. In particular check under network connections, see if your network drivers still exist and if they are getting an IP still..
