Im excited to transition from the suburbs in Connecticut, to the CITY.. kinda nervous too 'cause i'm
going to be alone. sweatingbullets.gif. Also..just in the city in general, any advice and pointers??

welcome to Boston!

I currently attend Boston University and I'm a Boston native.

I think Boston is a good transition to make into the city as it isn't quite as bustling as say NYC, San Fran, etc and you're from New England so it isn't that far of a stretch! Boston IS college central so anywhere you go you should find it to be student friendly so you won't feel too lonely or out of place.

I'm not sure what you mean by advice though... did you want recommendations of places to go or just stuff like "don't talk to strangers"? I have friends who go to Suffolk as well and I hear no complaints so have fun!

i agree with the above. boston is like college central. i go to northeastern university and i love it. all the schools in boston are really close to each other so there's college students everywhere. boston isn't a huge city so you won't really get lost.

I go to UMass-Boston. It's actually in Dorchester and not Boston, but oh well. xD

Suffolk is actually about 15-20 minutes away from where I live so I kind of know the area well. There are tons of places for college students to hang out so don' worry about that hehe. If you're really going to Suffolk, then you're pretty close to the Cambridgeside Galleria Mall so you can do some shopping. And it's close to Downtown so...more shopping, I guess. xD You don't really need a car to get around.

I go to college in Boston. New England College of Optometry, it's a small school. All u need is a train map and you can get anywhere. Something to take note of is that trains stop running at nite. I came from NYC so that's new to me. Public transportation is the way to go. smile.gif

Something that I have noticed in Boston is that there are lots of homeless ppl. And they are more direct in asking you for money around here. Maybe it's just me.

^ That is kind of true. The homeless people usually hang around Downtown and aren't afraid of begging for money.

Yep, I go to Wentworth, right next to MCP, Massart, Northeastern, and the other colleges of fenways.

I think you'll come to love Boston if you're coming from the suburbs. I know that the first time I came to Boston, I was just glad that I was never stuck in one place.

you'll like suffolk...and boston in general hehe.
suffolk is right next to downtown crossing, boston common, and chinatown. food, shopping, and a park...and there's a movie theater down the street! what a lovely location hehe happy.gif
i've lived in boston all of my life and i go to boston university. boston seems a little dull every now and then but i still <3 it.

^ i don't know if you guys know this, but downtown is actually pretty safe. because in reality, there are alot of undercover police working there since it's kind of like a tourist area.

it's not a tip or pointer but i thought it was cool that I'm from CT as well and am dying to get into a college in Boston as well. =)
i wanted to destroy everything beautiful i'd never have... i wanted to kill the fish i couldn't afford to eat... i wanted the whole world to hit bottom. i wanted to put a bullet between the eyes of every panda that wouldn't screw to save its species and every whale or dolphin that gave up and ran itself aground.

it's all inside

haha i remember once i was walking downtown and this lady came up to me and gave me a rose and im like oh thank you... and she's like "THREE DOLLARS" or something. and im like o.0; "i dont have any money" so she snatches her rose back and walks away. and then there's some homeless lady in chinatown who friggin CHASES you down the street. i was honestly scared because she did not stop following me until i went into some random building to get away frm her.

hm, pointers? dont walk down sketchy streets by urself at night.
