ok~so i dont get it~why does it sound like madara is respecting itachi and making him sound like some heroic martyr? if itachi was this im-going-to-play-the-bad-guy-to-save-the-world isnt madara the true bad guy? which is why itachi gave it all to sasuke? dkfndkjnfjdsnfkjsdnf
and why couldnt itachi just tell sasuke? come on the convo could look like this:
itachi: sasuke before we fight i need to confess something. i didnt kill our clan because i was this power hungry anarchist you think i am...

OMGGG I WAS FREAKING OUT IN CLASS
i was reading the chapter on my sidekick and i was literally about to burst into tears.
FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO DOUBTED ITACHI, REPENT NOW!
omg. he was seriously my uttermost favorite character in naruto.
sigh. the mangaka must LOVE giving cliff-hangers-_-
wow. i don't know what i should feel for sasuke. LOL
finally the manga seems to take interesting turns again, its been so long!

sasuke is having his moment this year. naruto will have his again sooner or later.
as for itachi... anything couldve happened to his past. what if itachi was approached by madara before the clan massacre and itachi couldnt do anything about it since he knew he couldnt stop madara by himself? what if madara killed off everyone and spared him and his brother? with so many twists lately in the manga... everyone should have an open mind right.
and whats up with tobi surviving when he got engulfed with ameratsu? i wonder what were the secrets he kept from itachi....

But if I really think about it, Masashi Kishimoto is pure genius. Hahaha...

I think the reason why Itachi never told Sasuke the truth is b/c hatred makes you stronger. So Itachi's way of making Sasuke stronger is to make sure Sasuke has the hatred to become stronger. Since Itachi couldn't kill Madara, he rely on Sasuke to finish the job because he believes Sasuke will become stronger than he is.
With that to the sides... dear god, Itachi was my favorite but after ch. 397.. Itachi has become my favorite character of all time. <333

*tear* Itachi...now that I think about it... I wonder what did Itachi want to tell Naruto right before fighting Sasuke? And since Orochimaru (who burst out of Sasuke in the middle of the fight) was stabbed by Itachi's sword, will Sasuke still have Oro's powers?

Saw an interesting take... (note: not by me, from another forum. I don't analyze this hard lol)
Madara killed the Uchiha clan but Itachi who was away on a mission along with sasuke who is in school were the only ones who survived. Itachi was the one who came back first and witnessed what happened to his clan, then by a stroke a coincidence Sasuke saw Itachi and ended up thinking that Itachi was the one who killed all the Uchihas

with all the twists.. i wouldnt be suprised if that was true... but that wouldnt prove or explain why itachi admitted to killing them. maybe he was confronted by madara before the massacre and he had no choice but to join madara (and did not have any part in the massacre) cause he knew he couldnt stop him... or itachi begged/insisted madara to spare sasuke knowing that sasuke had the potential to become stronger later on to kill madara and/or disrupt his plans)

Its assume that Itachi went pass his limit... but then again it is all just speculations at this point.

This plot twist is driving me CRAZY! Though I really suspected that this would happen...that Itachi would turn out to be the "good guy", but I REALLY didn't want it to happen because that would make me even more mad that he "died" (still in denial) T___T Kishimoto is so good at cliffhangers!
