Jiraiya didn't think Pain would live through that ultimate genjutsu. That's probably why he said those words. I think in the beginning when Pain switched his body before he confronted Jiraiya, those bodies were like clones taken from dead bodies. Isn't the form he took when he met Jiraiya that of Deidara's body? Kinda like when Orochimaru summoned those 2 hokages when he fought the 3rd Hokage. I guess Pain's real body was hidden in that cave where he switched bodies.


I don't think Hermits can grow back limbs though If only he was a starfish

i doubt it. he wouldve just said it before he asked pein what he was.

he either realized those 6 bodies were clones being controlled by Pein from a different location or there is someone stronger/unexpected involved.
