--부재중 (不在中): This was his nickname during school years, Hero himself said, because if his name 在中.
boo means 不. In Korean, the pronunciation of 不 is boo. So, Boo jaejoong is 不在中. Boojaejoong means "Not inside now" in Korean. For example, if you say "He is boojaejoong" now, that means he is not here now. 在中 is Hero's name, so children just made fun of him with the pronunciation of the name.

I thought they also use this because sometimes he isn't present (with everyone else) mentally--so that's why I thought they used it--because he's a daydreamer.

i thought the hurdles was the funniest out of all.
