history is pretty much just memorization for me, but we do get a lot of work to do. like we have to do chapter outlines and vocabulary for each chapter. he also gives us worksheets. and then you have the tests, which consists of 3-4 chapters together, so it's like 100 questions.
of course, your teacher might be different though

I think i used Kaplan on this one. But I hear that REA is the best for US History.
oh wait.. are you just talking about the class in general or the ap exam? either way, i think both would provide good reinforcements for information.
All i did was read each chapter maybe 2 or 3 times. Once before/during the days he lectures and on the night before the test. If there are any preannounced pop quizzes, I just go over the section he'd be quizzing over. I realized I had to stay focus while reading the book and also in class to take good notes. But in doing so, I remembered things so much easier. I didn't even have to outline the chapter. The only notes I took were in class, and I hardly looked through them again because I already remembered the stuff from writing it down in the first place.
sorry i'm a little tired so this is probably incoherrent.

I use Barron's EZ-101 American History to 1877. Im in AP US history 1 this year. It is great for teacher lectures. This books give u the outline of the chapters and it really helps me understand alot of the things my teacher talk about, but it does not include review questions. My Ap teacher use this book as a guide when he teaches.
From the Publisher
Barron's EZ-101 Study Keys Series are designed to be compatible with virtually every standard textbook in their subject field. Classroom style notes emphasize important facts, remind you what you need to remember for term papers and exams, and help guide you through the complexities of lectures and textbooks. American History to 1877 covers all the major themes, historical figures, major dates and events from your introductory American History courses. Topics covered include Pre-Columbian America to the post-Civil War Reconstruction era.

I AM! yea i have no idea what im doing in that class
in general im pretty good in spanish but my teacher suck
argg she makes me so madddd!!!!
anyways
junior year: ap english, ap us history, ap calc, and ap chem
senior year: ap bio, ap spanish, ap govt, and ap stat
last year (junior year) my teachers for calc and chem knew how to teach. even though i didnt do well in the class, i still got a 4 on the ap calc exam. i didn't even study for any of my exams which i regret =P
and i heard the stat exam was easy. ap govt is a breeze too but we really dont do anything in that class. basically we just discuss so i probably have to buy a review book.
i dont know why i even taking ap bio. even though it is a good review, the exam is pointless for me because i want to pursue a science career so basically colleges wont really accept the credit because they want you to take their science courses even if i get a 5 argg and its the same with chem. SO my advice to those who wants to pursue the science field is to take the ap class but there's really no point in taking the exam.

Have you tried getting old essay prompts of the AP and practicing? Trying making an outline or something beforehand, then write your paper and show it to your teacher.

if you can do it, you should take precal during the summer b/c all you need to learn is trigonometry which is basically the numbers for calculus... it really doesn't even take a year to learn. pretty simple stuff.. research it in google or something, you'll see
calculus is sooo fun
i heard from all my friends who have taken stats that it is the stupidest easiest most joke of a class they ever took.. yes, ap stats. so i believe them... though they're all really smart.. but really what could you learn in statistics but boring statistics?

i'm taking it too but i wouldn't be too worried if you're good.. meaning you know the grammar, special rules, fluency, vocab, pronounciation
it's a totally new format or at least new topics so we're the first to take it. they should be nice in curving
look at the rubric in collegeboard
it turns out that each section is worth so little that it's okay to do poorly in one..
go to page 8 http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads...nish-Locked.pdf
practice transitional phrases, practice freely speaking, learn genders of commonly confused words for the fill in, practice common speaking phrases and responses, learn some idiomatic phrases like "manos a la obra" which means "hands to work", practice speed reading, remember - the formal writing w/ 3 sources, organize quickly for a minute or 2 and then mention each one using an integrated quote into your essay in reference; incorporate your own ideas also! don't mess up the grammar though and remember, they like complex phrases if you do them correctly. oh and practice on past tests on collegeboard as well using the above link
sorry i'm not a real expert since i haven't taken it but that's what i'm going to do
good luck
