a lot of people are taking AP Statistics
can anyone tell me if that class is easy?!
and if anyone already taken the test is that easy too?!
i am planning on taking it my senior year but i am not sure
statstics isnt hard. just be focused and use logic and everything turns out okay.
thats what i learned like the first month lmao :x
idk about the test - im taking it right now

abcdaisy: I have only been in AP Stat for a week so I can't give you the most accurate info. However, generally most people think AP Stat is easier than calculus. So far, I agree with that. I feel like stat isn't really math...it's kind of like reasoning or theory (if that makes any sense). Calculus is definitely advanced math. As for the AP exams, I remember my calc BC teacher telling us that it's harder to than a 5 on the AP Stat exam than the AP Calc exam. I'm currently a senior and I think stat is a good class to take during senior year.
yeah, i definiltey think its easier than calc.
calc isnt THAT bad either though. :\ but i heard you have to study for like a week - cram cram cram for calc before the test :x

Are AP tests impossible like the SATs?

I expect to know the subject through. How are the AP tests graded?
SATs arent impossible : P

>________> I just have to say that I really really really hated AP Spanish Language as well. I was so unprepared once the exam rolled around.
OMFG im debating whether to take that next year? and right now i really sucksuckscukk at spanish.
what was on the test? do you remember? was it like, listening/writing/oral? or just grammar?
ew, i dont think ill take that next year..

well, stats is going okay, the first unit test we had was pretty easy.
calc hasnt really gotten itno anything yet...limits. woot.
its just reading and the reading is actually pretty interesting XD (neeerd)

is ap am.history, ap english, ap calc bc, ap chem, ap psychology together too much? (for junior year next year?)

That when we live no more, we may live ever

that mayy be a lil too much. haha i dunno how much you can take but hey, it's possible.
ap psych was SO EASY. lots of common sense and memorization. that's basically it. easy 5 on the test.

ap lang was not that bad i guess. got a 3 on the test tho..

lots of my friends took ap chem during senior year and stressed CRAZY about it. they did chem every day during lunch wacko.gif but when they took the ap exam, they said it was soooooo much easier than expected and they got 4's and 5's. haha

& i dunno bout ap history & ap calc. i just know ap history is a crapload of reading.

I have like a 97% in AP Bio. It's kind of awesome. My teachers grades quite easy and labs are worth like 70 points while quizzes are only worth like 40! She even let us do corrections on them biggrin.gif

oh my god. are you serious?
you are so lucky. tests/quizzes/finals are 75% of our grade, labs are 15%, homework is 5%, and participation is another 5% for my AP Bio teacher. and he's so hard. the average for his tests are C's. a least he curves, thank god.

I don't think it'll be really that bad if you're really motivated and unless the teachers ask for a lot of time spent for that class during the week.
Can anyone answer my question about the AP awards, please? sweatingbullets.gif

Well I'm taking like 5 and a half Ap classes. AB calc, AP bio, AP CA, AP Psych and AP physics and AP US. BUUTTTTT

I was thinking I would drop AP physics even though it's a weighted class, because I really don't think I'll do that great in it and do an independent study for AP Studio art.

BUt I'm not sure. @___@ What do you guys think would benefit me more??

sad.gif I'm seriously failing APUSH though. My teacher's tests are impossible. My grade droped from a 88.9% to a 80.9% in a matter of a day because I failed a test that everyone else failed too.

I hate AP Stats......it's SOOOO BORING!
AP Lit....the teacher is crazy. The whole class just sits there while he rambles on about random tangents. Only like the same 5 people in my class participate every day.
AP Calc ..eh same old same old since I have the same teacher I had for Pre-Calc.
AP ES...same old same old since I have the same teacher I had for APBio.

Is there anybody in AP chem who could help me with this question:
"Explain why phosphorus does not follow the expected trend for electron affinity of period 3 elements."

AP Calc - I had my first calc test last week...I hope I did okay! I'm not stressing out about it right now since I can't do anything now since it's over and done with. I'm more worried about my lost College Patterns Writing book for my English class D:

and i have a question myselff

im gonna be taking french 4 independent study to prepare for the ap french exam.
so i was wondering if any of you have ever taken it- pass or fail [the ap french exam i mean]
i hear its extremely difficult

Hi! I took the AP French Language exam. Because of some complications with my cassette, they only gave me a projected grade (basically what I got on the rest of the test besides verbal) and I received a 4.

So, you've taken 3 years of French before, correct? Every year counts. In my opinion, the test wasn't terribly difficult (but not super easy either!). Fortunately, I had a great teacher who managed to challenge us on all of the skills needed:

-Writing: She made us write an essay every week or so. Since you're independently studying, you should try this and have someone proofread it for you. As in any paper, it's a good idea to make an outline so you have a clear idea of what you want to write about. Perhaps for the first few weeks, time shouldn't be a big factor and you should concentrate more on your grammar, spelling, and vocabulary and try to write the perfect essay (no mistakes, etc.) regardless of time. However, as the AP exam draws nearer, start timing yourself.

-Reading: My teacher frequently gave us French magazines to read or articles. Try reading the news in french through sites like lemonde.fr or even novels in french. Make sure to have a dictionary nearby (I love wordreference.com and frequently used it) for any vocabulary you don't know.

-Speaking: Concentrate on speaking confidently. For me, the hardest part was speaking because, unlike the writing, you don't have a lot of time to think about what you are going to say, so sometimes you end up repeating things in different ways (which doesn't really show fluidity or knowledge of vocabulary). The AP Graders probably don't want "uhs," "hrms," or "......." taking up the cassette's time. You only have a 30s-60s to answer, so make them count! And, if you make a mistake and realize it, make sure to correct yourself as it will impress the graders that you caught the mistake and fixed it.

-Listening: French songs definitely help, not only with the listening portion, but all aspects of the exam. In my opinion, this is probably the easiest part of the exam. For practice exams and the real exam itself, make sure to eliminate any "trap" answers. "Trap" answers are usually the answer choices that have a word said in the dialogue/exchange/question or have a word that sound like one of the words said in the answer. At least half of the time, that is not the answer.
(ex: Ou est la voiture?
A: La voiture est rouge. <--This is obviously not the correct answer, haha
B: Au garage.)
Also, take notes during the dialogue/exchanges. Some of them are quite long.
And: READ THE ANSWERS BEFOREHAND. Try to read the answers to the next question before hearing it. It really helps.

General Tips
-Have a support system, someone who is fluent with the language and can help you out when you need it. Forums like WordReference are a good tool as well because you can get more than one person's opinion and some of these people can help you with colloquialisms, etc.
-TENSES TENSES TENSES! These are extremely important for all parts of the exam. Check online for the ones that you definitely need to know for the test. Some of the more obscure ones, like past subjunctive probably won't be used (at least...they weren't for mine)
---Know the difference between IMPARFAIT and PASSEE COMPOSEE
---Know the "If, Then" clause rules.
-Prepositions, pronouns, negative clauses, etc. They're easy enough, so know them all.
-Reflexive verbs are cool.
-LEARN SOME IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS.
-Buy your cassette player now if you don't have it. Practice speaking frequently.
-Buy an AP French Language exam book! Preferably the ones with practice exams (most of them have these anyways).
-Build your vocabulary. Whether through french films, music, books, flash cards, etc., learn some useful words that you can use in your essays/speaking portions.
-Mix up your sentence structure a bit.

-My French teacher always had a rule when doing our essays/speaking portions. If you've already used the verb before, don't use it again. AP Graders want to see variety. How boring is it to hear, "The boy was at the park. There was a bird. The bird was blue. The bird was big. The boy was happy." This does not show variety and definitely does not demonstrate command of language.

Sorry for this extensive list of tips haha. I didn't even realize how much I had wrote until now sleep.gif;; Anyhow, good luck to you. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Aiiyoo!

I was sloppy on my Calc test. I don't like being rushed. I have a 90.3% in the class. lol

Physics... I have to stay on top of it. I let off the gas and the class whizzed right by. I'm studying right now for the test tomorrow.
Kinematics, Calculus Polynomials, Vector Math.

^You want to be learning new things and reinforcing the basics, not just relearning them. I think, if you feel comfortable with the basics already, there's no point in taking the 401 class. It really depends on how you feel. If you take easier class, you'll probably have to learn the new tenses, vocab, grammar, etc. on your own. If you take the challenging or harder class, you'll have to review the basics on your own.

Has it been long since you've taken a French course? Or like...just a summer? If it's been awhile, you might want to go with the basics then...

For the speaking portion, there are basically two sets of pictures. There are about 3-4 questions about the first set and 2-3 questions on the second set. There will be a story shown through 5-6 pictures and they'll ask "What happened in this story?" and then more general questions. The second set consists of two pictures in which you will probably compare or contrast the two and then, another general question.

All the information for the test is found here: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testin...html?frenchlang
Sample questions are here: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testin...html?frenchlang

Haha yeah...a French dictionary's a great asset XD Since you're planning on self-studying and don't need to bring it to school, get a really nice hardcover/complete one XD [I used the small Webster's one because it was convenient and small but it didn't have every word :[ )

One of her students who went to harvard even got a three on it. I took french since the sixth grade and I'm supposed to be in french five this year, but I dropped it cause I really don't like it.

Man, I hated French.
Only reason I took it because apparently colleges liked it if you took 2 years of French typically
so I did just that.

Freshmen Year - French 2 Honors
Sophomore Year - French 3 Honors
Junior Year it was either French 4A or 4AP

and there was no way I'm going to go up to AP but I didn't want
my transcript to look like i followed a good trend down to an accelerated class level
my junior year.

now i am satisfied with Latin Honors =D

Haha, no. It was a combination of a really good teacher and my love for the language XD It was my favorite class ever because it was such a great atmosphere. At my school, there are like 3-4 spanish classes but only one class of other languages (like French, German, Latin, etc.). So, you stay with the same people for all 4 years usually. I got really close to my classmates and we were all comfortable with each other and with the teacher. Favorite & Best class !

French Five? Wow. So you've taken 4 years? You should see if you are able to take the AP French! It'll look good on your college apps if you pass! XD
