So I just switched my sched from AP Chem to AP stats...

Is AP stats hard? My friend said its not bad if you get it, and my sister said the math is easy but understanding it is difficult
and I'm still debating if I should switch into APUSH... I feel like I'll be bored in reg hist.

the class itself isn't hard, and there actually isn't even that much math involved.
it's more about understanding concepts like skadoosh! mentioned.
i thought the exam was really difficult though. :/
other than that, it shouldn't be a problem.

Has anyone taken AP Physics B before D:?
I really want to take the class, but I haven't taken physics before. I've researched the stuff that one learns in the class and it all looks really interesting. I like math and I have an easier time with that than conceptual stuff, and a lot of people have said that it is mostly math.

As thanks, I would like to present you with a cookie:

Tomorrow's the last day of school! I'm more sad than excited. After AP testing things got quieter and more relaxed. D: I dread junior year.
Schedule:
- Orchestra <333
- AP Calc BC
- APEL
- APUSH
- AP Physics C both
And *hopefully* AP Chinese.

For the people who have taken these ap's, what did you think of them?
Oh, and I haven't taken physics before. u____u;;; But some people at my school say you don't really need to know the basics before taking Physics C? What would you guys say?

In my opinion, ditch the AP classes and take classes at your local community college XDD
If your school allows it, most community college classes can be taken and can give you credits as well as the fact that (if the classes are transferable) you don't have to take that class when you start college :]

OH YEAH!
Community college classes (at my CC) were free besides the textbooks too XD
So it's cheaper and guaranteed credits for college haha.

^^for apush I thought it was SO HARD at the beginning of the year but after a few months I actually found it to be one of my favorite classes. There's just a lot of reading you need to do & also memorizing, but basically the more you read, the higher you score. Our teacher says taking notes helps alot but I as long as you READ then you're ok. I took ap chinese 2 years ago but I have to say it's the easiest class I've ever taken. Our teacher didn't really know how to teach so for the entire year our class was just goofing off and wasting time, but in the end only 2 ppl in our class got 4s and everyone else got 5s on their ap exams :/

next year taking
AP calc bc
AP chem
AP english
meh not that bad.

Can you still go to a good college without taking any ap classes in high school or not taking any ap classes in one of your high school years? I can't decide whether I want to take world history ap next year or not and I heard that ap classes are what colleges really look at.

I can't believe I am taking AP Gov't
I think I am crazy taking AP Psychology and AP English Literature at the same time.
I just got to get out of AP Gov't because if I stay one more year with
Mr.Field I will kill myself.

^ all those classes are actually pretty easy. I loved AP Gov. It was one of my fav classes in high school. As for AP Lit and AP Psych, depending on your teaching they have varying degrees of difficulty, but not too hard.

This is not just for AP classes but any advanced course classes (advanced, college, etc.)... colleges want to see students challenge themselves in academics so they look for students who take AP courses/advanced courses throughout their high school careers. These courses can help "prove" that the student can handle college-level material. I came from a school that didn't have many advanced courses so I took all the advanced courses offered. Take advantage of the opportunities that you get. It wouldn't hurt to try (:

I guess I'll take it then. It's just that I'm worried about the workload. All of my friends said its killer and one even said its harder than ap us history but I guess I'll take it. Maybe it'll teach me to not procrastinate!

Hewwo, I have a little problem. D:

I'll be a junior next year, so I'm interested in taking an AP class (specifically AP Lang. and Comp.). It'll be my first one, but the closest I've had was just advanced math classes (not the highest ones, just the second highest.. if you know what I mean haha). My English teacher tried talking to the AP English folks about me and showed them my speech essay (last writing assignment: A+). They said that I can switch to AP, but it'll be a very challenging class for me.

So my teacher doesn't recommend that I take the AP course next year, since it'll be a huge leap from the normal-level that I'm in, and that I should stick to excelling in my normal classes, especially during Junior year (apparently it's the toughest year.. but he said I should definitely take an AP English class during senior year, lol ). Thing is, I never felt like I benefited much from being in a normal-level English class.

Has anyone ever started taking AP classes during the middle of their high school career? I'm really looking forward to being challenged, but I don't want to end up having regrets. >_< I also want to have a couple AP classes in my senior schedule, so I feel like taking this class would at least prepare me for then. Should I stick to the normal classes or try AP? O_O

I had my very very first AP classes during my Junior year. I was scared of the workload at first too but if you see yourself doing good in normal classes, then think of it similar to as if you're just carrying it on to AP classes, but now you have to work even harder. Taking them during my junior year also prepared me for my AP classes during senior year because I've learned how to allocate my time and organize it, not only during AP testing but also the pile of work (since I jumped from taking 2 AP's to 5 AP's).

But in the end, it's up to you to judge and decide since you know yourself the best. Do you think/feel like you can handle the work? Do you think it's the best for you?

All I could say is though... why not ;]

not to scare you or anything. but AP World History sure is a lot of work. im taking it next year and sadly, i was already assigned to do homework over the summer. my teacher gave us a crapload of worksheets, a book to read (guns, germs, and steel) + questions that go along with it, and 2 chapters of cornell notes (approx 30 pages each chapter in small print D: ). i can't even imagine having to deal with it everyday in september. but don't get discouraged! i quite like this class already (:

Lol. I know it's a lot of work. The AP world history summer homework for me is doing a map and choosing a book to read and writing a 4-5 pg book review on it including the historical context, discussion of theme, an analysis of the objective, thesis, interpretation of events, and evidence with examples from the book and our reflections to history and the world. I'm going to do it. Who knows? Maybe I'll like the class (: In a weird way, I'm excited about the class but I'm also scared of the work.

AP World History was just horrible.
I had a really good teacher and all, but there was just SO much work.
And the exam was BLASPHEMY! The third essay made me want to shoot myself.
Not to mention, the summer assignment before that, for us, was to SUMMARIZE a TEXTBOOK. (WTF!!!)
I'm so glad that's over. rofl

AP US History is gonna be one BIG pain in the donkeh.
I dunno if I should drop it or not. T__T I'm really considering it, 'cause I can't risk getting a bad grade next year.

I hope AP English Language will be okay, though. I heard it's not that bad.

^ I had AP World History and the only assignments we ever got was doing you reading every night, daily quizzes (they were only 2 or 4 questions), the practice essays and tests.
The rest of the period was all lecture and/or discussion (with a lot of jokes or puns included).
It wasn't really that hard at all to me but I've always been good in History so maybe that's why.
We didn't even get a summer assignment before we started the class.

I just hated it because we had to read 30 pages in our textbook everyday but it became my favorite class because I think it was the only class this year that I actually learned something.

Plus my teacher was really awesome too, he had weird nicknames for all the kids in the class.

Now I signed up for AP English Language, AP Statistics, APUSH and AP Environmental Science.
And the deans decided to add me to AP Art History because I did so good in Art without asking if I wanted to take the class. Wtf?

You'll love AP CAlc BC (: It's really fun, honestly. I found it easier than AP Stat because it's more application than interpreting, and that's what I'm better at.
I don't know about the others, since they're not even offered at our school... ><
I love watching KevJumba's videos. xD
