^ No. It's like any other class; if you fail, you have to retake it but instead of AP, you'll be in advanced/that class' lowest level.

If you feel that you will fail your AP then step down a level. It's better to get an A in Advanced than a C (or a D!) in AP.

omg AP English is the WORST.
I mean I'm good at English and I have like an 87 or something,
but my teacher gives us SOOO much work! It's INSANE! I doubt even college dishes out this much homework.

Example:
Summer reading assignment - Read Poisonwood Bible and take notes on it as you read
2nd/3rd day of school - We were assigned an essay on the Poisionwood Bible, AS WELL AS a Visual Rhetoric project, due within two days of each other
4th day - Given a 100-question test on Poisonwood Bible
RIGHT AFTER WE FINISH THE ESSAYS AND VISUAL RHETORIC - Given ANOTHER visual rhetoric assignment on family and then an essay on family
During that week - doing questions from Reading for Writers book every day, and given not one but TWO different sets of vocabulary AT THE SAME TIME (one is for The Crucible, which we are apparently getting ready to read even though we're ALREADY reading Huckeberry Finn, and the other is for rhetoric)

Write down every single thing you do in class that day. Mrs. McLeod is extremely vague with what she wants us to do sometimes, so basically I just go home and finish up whatever she wrote on the board that day, and it usually pays off (sometimes I forget to write a due date or I write the wrong one. D=)

Use creative things in essays, like quotes or statistics that have to do with your topic. McLeod said that grabs and keeps a reader's attention (AND it saved me on my last essay. She said my essay was extremely unorganized, but I got a 90A, and I'm thinkin' it was because I used statistics in my body and a quote in both my intro and my conclusion).
And never ever ever write in first person. No "I, we, us." And NO "you." A lot of my friends forget that and get points off.
Oh, and flashcards for vocab. That works. =D

Well for my teacher,
it REALLY helps if you actually pay attention and participate (ask questions for verification, etc.) in class
and read the chapter ahead of time so you'll know what the teacher is talking about (it also helps you pay attention when you know what they're talking about),
and if you have a workbook, do the workbook ahead of time.
Doing that gets me A's on my teacher's tests.
If I just read the chapter well, I can maybe make a high C or a low B.
Maybe.
So you can try that too, if you want.

I'm doing (for my standard). I think I'm getting like a low B =(
I'm lucky to have a really easy/nice teacher, but her essay gradings and tests are killing me!

I'm already thinking about my courses for next year and I'm wondering if anyone could help me with my decisions.
Which one would you recommend?
Math: Discrete Math, AP Calc AB, AP Calc BC, AP Stats
History: AP Modern European History, AP Gov & Politics

If you think you're math class this year is pretty easy (though be careful, cuz it might get harder later), take AP Calc BC.

As for social studies, honestly, choose the one that interests you more. If you don't usually pay attention to politics, it's going to be painful in AP Gov because it'd be harder to participate in discussions. I currently have Honors American Government (which at my school is like an incomplete AP class that makes you go study on your own if you want to take the test x_X) and I can read the book and do the tests, but I barely know what people in class are talking about, lol.

Princeton Review books really helped me for AP Euro..The practice tests are actually a lot harder than the actual test. They have good study skills/techniques as well.

so basically i'm dying in AP European History. sophomore year and first ap ever. everyone dropped out and there's only 9 people in my class left i'm pretty much failing the dbq's and tests any advice? thanks in advance.

Oh gosh, AP Euro so brings me bad memories -___-; DBQ's = pain in the butt. My teacher recommended that we make quick summaries of each documents and then come up with our ideas. But since it's timed, you have to be fast :/

My teacher ranked the hardest AP exams, and he said the AP Psych exam was one of the easiest.
I think you can self study it. :]
I don't think there's anything wrong with taking all the science APs. Don't you need to take science in college anyway? (I'm not sure about this. I think it depends on what college you're planning to go to.)

i just felt like mentioning that.. i just finished my AP computer science half-take-home-test which was to work on some program.

even though i probably didn't do it right, it computes what the question asked so hopefully i get some credibility.

what a funky way haha.

anywho, i'm proud of myself. i finished a program without asking for help or looking at the other programs i made! and now i can get my remaining 6 hours of sleep ^^;;

so tell me again why did i do this ? despite teh fact that my AP teacher won't be in tomorrow.. who knows.

Not sure how your tests are based on but when we have quizes (we haven't had a test yet), most of the questions are similiar or same as these questions: Link

hmm.. i have problems with studying in general LOLLS
anyways well in my school, taking notes on the chapters are hw.
im actually okay with that cuz last year ap world the chapters were soooooooo long (20-25 pgs) and neverending but this year the chapters are only about 13 pages-ish. [[in the end, i stopped doing my hw and failed my hw quizzes but thats not the point here]]

it really depends on what type of "study" person u are.
can u simply absorb info in class and not really have to study?
or can u just read simple notes and study for like 20minutes?
or ur the type that studies endless hours?
or ur the type that needs to study in chunks?

i really suggest taking notes as ur reading. im the type that is between reading simple notes and not really studying anything. i really think its b/c when i take notes while reading im reinforcing the info im reading while writing it down as well. but if u really dont want to do that then when studying, take all the headings of the various sections in the chapter and write down all u know. skim through the chapter to make sure u got all the key points in that particular section. its kinda like rereading but not really. OR search for AP questions/quizzes online for the topic u r studying. (like Soochi suggested)

i have problems with studying too (mostly cuz im just plain lazy) but maybe i helped a little? hehe =X

AP world history: (took it last year) i loved the subject (my teacher is seriously the best teacher everr!! hehe but hes really weird..) but still fell asleep in class. i think its just that theres so much to cover and it seems to overwhelming, but in the end, its mostly about the main themes and some important details. the AP test was actually not bad (although when i took it i was panicking...). as for the essays, if u have the right formula/format then u can pretty much get most of the points for that section. [[my whole class got 5s on the AP test, but then again our class was only 9 ppl =..= ahahaha]]
