^ I dropped AP Chem 2nd semester.
I'd imagine you have to talk to your counselor about dropping, if not another counselor who can tell your counselor.

I dont even know why i took AP bio. The class if so freakin' hard, Im failing all the tests... =(...goddammit I have a test tommorrow and dont even understand anything! *screams*

Oh gosh that makes me frightened since I had planned to sign up for that class next year based on the sole fact that I need 8 credits and I'd hate to take AP Physics or AP Chem (I'm having a hard enough time with physics as it is....). AP Bio seems like a better option than loading up on team athletics that'll drop my class rank T_T
You've proved my theory wrong.
I believed that if I kept my distance, you'd miss me.
Instead, you found someone better.

I finally got around to buying my Princeton Review APUSH 2006-2007 edition Prep Book.

I looked through it.
Seems reasonable, but of course since it's Winter Break I'm not going to
bring it into action =D

It costed me 17 bucks O_O someone shoot me T_T
but well worth it since I hear so many good reviews about it.

Which AP prep book would you recommend for SPANISH, Barron's or REA?
Last year, I had a ton of prep books for APUSH, and I remember Barron's and AMSCO were wonderful for detail and 'hit words', REA was good for summarizing and jogging memory, but this can't really apply to Spanish ^^;;

I wanted to ask because Barnes and Noble is having a "50% off Holiday Sale", and I checked, a lot of their AP preps are eligible (that's a heads up, by the way laugh.gif)
(forgot to mention! 50% off ends Dec 31!)

So Barron's Spanish or REA's Spanish?

i just got done with that class 1st semester.......i did so horribly. my test average was like a C/D...but i think i made it out with a B cum.
it was hard. no matter what i did. there was no point.
mostly my teacher was a jerk who was so full of himself. he did not teach . he just boasted about how smart he was and how dumb we were. >.< . he worked problems incorrectly at times too aghh so it was pretty confusing
bleh in my case ap chem was torture for me.

Ugh! Don't even mention the word "AP"! >_<

Last year:
I took AP BIO and it was ridiculously easy because the teacher was lazy and practically googled everything. If you use Google for everything, you'll definitely pass her AP BIO class. dry.gif She gives us notes and projects and tells us to read the chapters, which took me about 2 hours to read each since it is soooooo boring I often fall asleep while reading. sleep.gif I read all the chapters, but I never got an "A", ever, because they have so much questions about "factual recall" and I couldn't memorize 30+ pages of blah!

I basically learned nothing more than I did in regular high school biology. dry.gif I didn't like her because she always have tantrums! For instance, if she didn't tell us something was due tomorrow, and the next day, she would yell at us and blame us for it. I'm like crazy.gif "are you capable of teaching?" So, she yells at our class regularly and once held us back " when the bell rang for the next class to give us a lecture on "bad grades". I mean, if she doesn't teach us anything, how are people supposed to learn and get good grades?! wacko.gif Our grades were averages on a scale of 25% for each of her four criteria. As long as you have A's in three categories and C's in the exam category, you're set to have an "A" in the class each quarter. Plus, you can always find her possible timed writing topics by googling it. dry.gif

I also took Language & Composition. I loved my teacher because she was also my humanities teacher in 9th grade and she has GREAT teaching skills/ethics. The class was actually easy because all we do is have thought-provoking discussions and seminars and compose timed writings and do practice AP tests. She actually teaches us stuff, good stuff.
---------------------------
This year:

My U.S. Gov't & Politics class is a joke! >_< All we do is 1) read each chapter from one textbook, 2) do the outline, 3) do the study guides, 4) read the chapter that correspond to the current chapter we're on, 5) do the outline, 6) practice test, 7) timed writing, and 8) test, 9) the cycle repeats. >_< We complete the cycle in about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks. I feel like I am learning NOTHING at all! crazy.gif

My Calculus AB course is good, but my teacher is on maternal leave and when the temporary substitute teacher came, we were due for an exam. I mean, he just graduated and he's new to teaching and all. He teaches straight from the book and I'm like "well, if you're just going to read and write notes from the book, we might as well teach ourselves because we surely don't need a sub to rewrite the notes from the book on the board!" >_< For that chapter, I DID NOT understand a thing, and I tried so so hard, but I still couldn't get it to click. Anyways, the exam came and he let us do the exam as a whole class of 13 students. I guess that was a nice move on his part. sleep.gif After winter break, he'll be teaching us for one week before our teacher comes back. It's not even going to be a whole week because he's taking two days off to go to the OSU vs. LSU game! >_< I mean?! What kind of teacher would do this? And this is an AP course, too! ohmy.gif

*sighs* I feel better already! I'm glad I am able to get this out, finally! *_*

Wow, poor you Aquafina!

I love my AP Calculus teacher because she is the coolest teacher ever! She raps, dances and even writes songs! I love her derivative songs!! She's just awesome but I'm not getting anywhere...haha XD Calculus is basically pricking all my hair out! When I think I got it....BOOM?! She gives us a quiz and BOOM! in the 70s... But I Love that CLASS!! HELP?

BTRSWTENVY & S_GE, I'm also doing AP Chem, but luckily, I'm doing an A job in the class. Your teacher sounds so horrible. Mine is a lady and she is smart, can somtimes be a little illogical, Tell me why are we having a test after a 2-week holidays? No sense!!

I was about to, but I didn't thank goodness.. I've heard it's recommended to take AP Chem before taking it but I think it depends on your understanding of Chem in general.

^ i took SAT chem without chem AP last year.... i didn't do too well so i cancelled my score, but I think it's possible. my friend got a 750 on it and he didn't take chem AP.. (we both took chem honors though which covers about 65% of the AP material)

I personally think that if I had studied for it a bit beforehand, I would have scored better. But to answer your question, no, you don't need to take AP chem to take SAT chem necessarily. If you have been studying for SAT chem alone and get about the average you want on practice tests, I say go for it.

OH. remember that there's no calculator allowed on the SAT chem. and good luck!

...damn. Maybe I should consider taking some kind of course beyond Chem 1 over the summer.
I'm planning on taking the SAT Chem this coming October/November and I'll be taking AP Chem next year...and it'll be my senior year...and yea..
I'll figure something out.

I'm taking Lit, Lang, Calc AB, and gov... SOOO ANNOYING. I was just going to study gov on my own, but now I don't want to.. but I already put it on my apps. O WELL. 2 is a 2 hahaha

me too >.<
exactly the same.

but ap classes are easy. theyre just like honours classes but more kick back, really. because the teacher is so laid back and doesn't care about anything oher then the exam. i never have homework. all i have to do is study for tests, thats the only hard part. screw up on one test and you die forever. denied from the college of your choice and go commit suicide.

if i want to send my AP scores (which colleges seem to recommend, or insinuate at the very least) and can't find that one single official hard copy they mail to you (auuhghh) is it possible to request them again on collegeboard.com or wherever somehow? and does it cost money? (what i've found so far seems to indicate that it requires a credit card, if this page is indeed what i'm looking for)

i know this doesn't seem very pressing, AP scores are only optional after all but... i kind of completely messed up on my grade in second-semester AP U.S. History, but there was family situations and all that good stuff, and i ended up getting a 5 on the actual AP exam, which gives me some cushioning-- and the USC deadline is in 4 days. :,D

i am looking EVERYWHERE still for my AP scores but please if you know anything let me know!!

(sorry if this post looks a bit familiar, ahah i posted it both here and on the college app help thread for the best of both worlds biggrin.gif )

My math teacher has been telling us this. She said that she thinks starting next year if you take AP courses, you'll have to take the AP exam or you'll get honors credit.

Is it true? If so, is it in effect next year and not this year?

I'm pretty sure it has always been like that.
You just have to TAKE the AP exam, not necessarily pass it.
