Oh gosh that makes me frightened since I had planned to sign up for that class next year based on the sole fact that I need 8 credits and I'd hate to take AP Physics or AP Chem (I'm having a hard enough time with physics as it is....). AP Bio seems like a better option than loading up on team athletics that'll drop my class rank T_T
I believed that if I kept my distance, you'd miss me.
Instead, you found someone better.

It's not like it's really that hard, it's just SOOOO MUCH WORK! Lots of reading. =/

I looked through it.
Seems reasonable, but of course since it's Winter Break I'm not going to
bring it into action =D
It costed me 17 bucks O_O someone shoot me T_T
but well worth it since I hear so many good reviews about it.

Last year, I had a ton of prep books for APUSH, and I remember Barron's and AMSCO were wonderful for detail and 'hit words', REA was good for summarizing and jogging memory, but this can't really apply to Spanish ^^;;
I wanted to ask because Barnes and Noble is having a "50% off Holiday Sale", and I checked, a lot of their AP preps are eligible (that's a heads up, by the way
(forgot to mention! 50% off ends Dec 31!)
So Barron's Spanish or REA's Spanish?

haha ap chem.
i just got done with that class 1st semester.......i did so horribly. my test average was like a C/D...but i think i made it out with a B cum.
it was hard. no matter what i did. there was no point.
mostly my teacher was a jerk who was so full of himself. he did not teach . he just boasted about how smart he was and how dumb we were. >.< . he worked problems incorrectly at times too aghh so it was pretty confusing
bleh in my case ap chem was torture for me.

Last year:
I took AP BIO and it was ridiculously easy because the teacher was lazy and practically googled everything. If you use Google for everything, you'll definitely pass her AP BIO class.
I basically learned nothing more than I did in regular high school biology.
I also took Language & Composition. I loved my teacher because she was also my humanities teacher in 9th grade and she has GREAT teaching skills/ethics. The class was actually easy because all we do is have thought-provoking discussions and seminars and compose timed writings and do practice AP tests. She actually teaches us stuff, good stuff.
---------------------------
This year:
My U.S. Gov't & Politics class is a joke! >_< All we do is 1) read each chapter from one textbook, 2) do the outline, 3) do the study guides, 4) read the chapter that correspond to the current chapter we're on, 5) do the outline, 6) practice test, 7) timed writing, and 8) test, 9) the cycle repeats. >_< We complete the cycle in about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks. I feel like I am learning NOTHING at all!
My Calculus AB course is good, but my teacher is on maternal leave and when the temporary substitute teacher came, we were due for an exam. I mean, he just graduated and he's new to teaching and all. He teaches straight from the book and I'm like "well, if you're just going to read and write notes from the book, we might as well teach ourselves because we surely don't need a sub to rewrite the notes from the book on the board!" >_< For that chapter, I DID NOT understand a thing, and I tried so so hard, but I still couldn't get it to click. Anyways, the exam came and he let us do the exam as a whole class of 13 students. I guess that was a nice move on his part.
*sighs* I feel better already! I'm glad I am able to get this out, finally! *_*

I love my AP Calculus teacher because she is the coolest teacher ever! She raps, dances and even writes songs! I love her derivative songs!! She's just awesome but I'm not getting anywhere...haha XD Calculus is basically pricking all my hair out! When I think I got it....BOOM?! She gives us a quiz and BOOM! in the 70s... But I Love that CLASS!! HELP?
BTRSWTENVY & S_GE, I'm also doing AP Chem, but luckily, I'm doing an A job in the class. Your teacher sounds so horrible. Mine is a lady and she is smart, can somtimes be a little illogical, Tell me why are we having a test after a 2-week holidays? No sense!!

Did you take AP Chem before taking it?
I was about to, but I didn't thank goodness.. I've heard it's recommended to take AP Chem before taking it but I think it depends on your understanding of Chem in general.

I personally think that if I had studied for it a bit beforehand, I would have scored better. But to answer your question, no, you don't need to take AP chem to take SAT chem necessarily. If you have been studying for SAT chem alone and get about the average you want on practice tests, I say go for it.
OH. remember that there's no calculator allowed on the SAT chem. and good luck!

...damn. Maybe I should consider taking some kind of course beyond Chem 1 over the summer.
I'm planning on taking the SAT Chem this coming October/November and I'll be taking AP Chem next year...and it'll be my senior year...and yea..
I'll figure something out.

me too >.<
exactly the same.
but ap classes are easy. theyre just like honours classes but more kick back, really. because the teacher is so laid back and doesn't care about anything oher then the exam. i never have homework. all i have to do is study for tests, thats the only hard part. screw up on one test and you die forever. denied from the college of your choice and go commit suicide.

i know this doesn't seem very pressing, AP scores are only optional after all but... i kind of completely messed up on my grade in second-semester AP U.S. History, but there was family situations and all that good stuff, and i ended up getting a 5 on the actual AP exam, which gives me some cushioning-- and the USC deadline is in 4 days. :,D
i am looking EVERYWHERE still for my AP scores but please if you know anything let me know!!
(sorry if this post looks a bit familiar, ahah i posted it both here and on the college app help thread for the best of both worlds

Is it true? If so, is it in effect next year and not this year?

I'm pretty sure it has always been like that.
You just have to TAKE the AP exam, not necessarily pass it.
